6:74:1waʾiðAnd when
6:74:2qālᵃsaid
6:74:3ʾibrāhīmᵘIbrahim
6:74:4liʾabīhⁱto his father
6:74:5ʾāzarᵃAzar,
6:74:6ʾatattaḫiðᵘ"Do you take
6:74:7ʾaṣnāmaⁿidols

6:74:9ʾinnīIndeed, I

6:74:11waqawmakᵃand your people
6:74:13ḍalālⁱⁿerror
6:74:14mmubīnⁱⁿmanifest."
۝٧٤
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father Azar, "Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error."
6:75:1wakaðālikᵃAnd thus
6:75:2nurīWe show(ed)

6:75:4malakūtᵃthe kingdom
6:75:5ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens

6:75:7waliyakūnᵃso that he would be
6:75:8minᵃamong

۝٧٥
And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith]
6:76:1falammāSo when
6:76:2jannᵃcovered
6:76:3ʕalayhⁱover him
6:76:4ₐllaylᵘthe night,
6:76:5raʾāhe saw
6:76:6kawkabaⁿa star.
6:76:7qālᵃHe said,
6:76:8hāðā"This

6:76:12qālᵃhe said
6:76:14ʾuḥibbᵘ(do) I like

۝٧٦
So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that disappear."
6:77:2raʾāhe saw
6:77:3ₐlqamarᵃthe moon
6:77:4bāziġaⁿrising
6:77:5qālᵃhe said,
6:77:6hāðā"This

6:77:8falammāBut when

۝٧٧
And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray."
6:78:2raʾāhe saw
6:78:3ₐlššamsᵃthe sun
6:78:4bāziġaẗᵃⁿrising
6:78:5qālᵃhe said,
6:78:6hāðā"This (is)

6:78:8hāðāthis (is)
6:78:9ʾakbarᵘgreater."
6:78:12qālᵃhe said,
6:78:13yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
6:78:14ʾinnīIndeed, I am
6:78:15barīʾᵘⁿfree
6:78:16mmimmāof what
6:78:17tušrikūnᵃyou associate (with Allah)."
۝٧٨
And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah.
6:79:1ʾinnīIndeed, I
6:79:2wajjahtᵘ[I] have turned

۝٧٩
Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah."
6:80:1waḥājjahuAnd argued with him
6:80:2qawmuhuhis people.
6:80:3qālᵃHe said,
6:80:4ʾatuḥājjūnnī"Do you argue with me
6:80:5concerning

6:80:24ʾafalāThen will not

۝٨٠
And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?

۝٨١
And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know?
6:82:1ₐllaðīnᵃThose who
6:82:3walamand (did) not

6:82:9ₐlʾamnᵘ(is) the security
6:82:10wahumand they
6:82:11mmuhtadūnᵃ(are) rightly guided.
۝٨٢
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
6:83:1watilkᵃAnd this
6:83:2ḥujjatunā(is) Our argument,
6:83:3ʾātaynāhāWe gave it
6:83:4ʾibrāhīmᵃ(to) Ibrahim
6:83:5ʕalāagainst
6:83:6qawmihihis people.
6:83:7narfaʕᵘWe raise
6:83:8darajātⁱⁿ(by) degrees
6:83:10nnašāʾᵘWe will.
6:83:11ʾinnᵃIndeed,
6:83:12rabbakᵃyour Lord
6:83:13ḥakīmᵘⁿ(is) All-Wise,
6:83:14ʕalīmᵘⁿAll-Knowing.
۝٨٣
And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise by degrees whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.
6:84:1wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
6:84:3ʾisḥāqᵃIsaac
6:84:4wayaʕqūbᵃand Yaqub,
6:84:6hadaynāWe guided.
6:84:7wanūḥaⁿAnd Nuh,
6:84:8hadaynāWe guided

6:84:19wakaðālikᵃAnd thus
6:84:20najzīWe reward
6:84:21ₐlmuḥsinīnᵃthe good-doers.
۝٨٤
And We gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - all [of them] We guided. And Noah, We guided before; and among his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the doers of good.
6:85:1wazakariyyāAnd Zakariya

6:86:4walūṭaⁿand Lut,
6:86:5wakullaⁿand all
6:86:6faḍḍalnāWe preferred
6:86:8ₐlʕālamīnᵃthe worlds.
۝٨٦
And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.
6:87:1waminAnd from
6:87:2ʾābāʾihimtheir fathers
6:87:3waðurriyyātihimand their descendents
6:87:4waʾiḫwānihimand their brothers -
6:87:5waᵢjtabaynāhumand We chose them
6:87:6wahadaynāhumand We guided them
6:87:8ṣirāṭⁱⁿa path,
6:87:9mmustaqīmⁱⁿstraight.
۝٨٧
And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers - and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path.
6:88:1ðālikᵃThat
6:88:2hudā(is the) Guidance

That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.
6:89:1ʾulāʾikᵃThose -

6:89:7faʾinBut if

Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. But if the disbelievers deny it, then We have entrusted it to a people who are not therein disbelievers.

Say, "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought as light and guidance to the people? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taught that which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say, "Allah [revealed it]." Then leave them in their [empty] discourse, amusing themselves.
