7:88:18qālᵃHe said,
7:88:19ʾawalaw"Even if
7:88:21kārihīnᵃ(the) ones who hate (it)?
۝٨٨
Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion." He said, "Even if we were unwilling?"
7:89:1qadⁱVerily,

۝٨٩
We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it except that Allah, our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision."
7:90:1waqālᵃAnd said
7:90:2ₐlmalaʾᵘthe chiefs
7:90:3ₐllaðīnᵃ(of) those who
7:90:4kafarūdisbelieved
7:90:5minamong
7:90:6qawmihihis people,

۝٩٠
Said the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people, "If you should follow Shu'ayb, indeed, you would then be losers."
7:91:1faʾaḫaðathumᵘThen seized them
7:91:2ₐlrrajfaẗᵘthe earthquake,
7:91:3faʾaṣbaḥūthen they became
7:91:5dārihimtheir home(s)

۝٩١
So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone.
7:92:1ₐllaðīnᵃThose who

۝٩٢
Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was as though they had never resided there. Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was they who were the losers.
7:93:1fatawallāSo he turned away
7:93:2ʕanhumfrom them
7:93:3waqālᵃand said,
7:93:4yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
7:93:5laqadVerily,

۝٩٣
And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving people?"
7:94:1wamāAnd not
7:94:4qaryaẗⁱⁿa city
7:94:6nnabīīⁱⁿProphet

۝٩٤
And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah].

7:95:14faʾaḫaðnāhumSo We seized them

7:95:16wahumwhile they
7:95:17(did) not

۝٩٥
Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive.
7:96:2ʾannᵃ[that]
7:96:3ʾahlᵃpeople
7:96:4ₐlqurā(of) the cities
7:96:5ʾāmanū(had) believed

7:96:14kaððabūthey denied.
7:96:15faʾaḫaðnāhumSo We seized them
7:96:16bimāfor what
7:96:17kānūthey used to
۝٩٦
And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning."
7:97:1ʾafaʾaminᵃThen did feel secure
7:97:2ʾahlᵘ(the) people
7:97:3ₐlqurā(of) the cities
7:97:4ʾanthat
7:97:5yaʾtiyahumcomes to them

7:97:7bayātaⁿ(at) night
7:97:8wahumwhile they
7:97:9nāʾimūnᵃ(were) asleep?
۝٩٧
Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep?
7:98:1ʾawaʾaminᵃOr felt secure
7:98:2ʾahlᵘ(the) people
7:98:3ₐlqurā(of) the cities
7:98:4ʾanthat
7:98:5yaʾtiyahumcomes to them
7:98:6baʾsunāOur punishment
7:98:7ḍuḥaⁿ(in) daylight
7:98:8wahumwhile they
7:98:9yalʕabūnᵃ(were) playing?
۝٩٨
Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play?
7:99:1ʾafaʾaminūThen did they feel secure
7:99:2makrᵃ(from the) plan
7:99:3ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah?
7:99:4falāBut not
7:99:5yaʾmanᵘfeel secure
7:99:6makrᵃ(from the) plan
7:99:7ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
7:99:8ʾillāexcept
7:99:9ₐlqawmᵘthe people
7:99:10ₐlḫāsirūnᵃ(who are) the losers.
۝٩٩
Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people.
7:100:1ʾawalamWould it not
7:100:3lillaðīnᵃ[for] those who
7:100:4yariθūnᵃinherit
7:100:5ₐlʾarḍᵃthe land
7:100:6minᵐfrom
7:100:7baʕdⁱafter
7:100:8ʾahlihāits people
7:100:11našāʾᵘWe willed,
7:100:12ʾaṣabnāhumWe (could) afflict them
7:100:13biðunūbihimfor their sins
7:100:14wanaṭbaʕᵘand We put a seal
7:100:16qulūbihimtheir hearts
7:100:18(do) not
۝١٠٠
Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear.
7:101:2ₐlqurā(were) the cities -
7:101:3naquṣṣᵘWe relate
7:101:4ʕalaykᵃto you
7:101:6ʾanᵐbāʾihātheir news.
7:101:7walaqadAnd certainly
7:101:8jāʾathumcame to them
7:101:9rusuluhumtheir Messengers
7:101:10biₐlbayyinātⁱwith clear proofs,
7:101:11famābut not
7:101:14bimāin what
7:101:15kaððabūthey (had) denied
7:101:17qablᵘbefore.
7:101:19yaṭbaʕᵘ(has been) put a seal
7:101:20ₐllahᵘ(by) Allah
7:101:22qulūbⁱ(the) hearts
7:101:23ₐlkāfirīnᵃ(of) the disbelievers.
۝١٠١
Those cities - We relate to you, [O Muhammad], some of their news. And certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does Allah seal over the hearts of the disbelievers.
7:102:1wamāAnd not
7:102:3liʾakθarihimfor most of them
7:102:5ʕahdⁱⁿcovenant.
7:102:8ʾakθarahummost of them
7:102:9lafāsiqīnᵃcertainly, defiantly disobedient.
۝١٠٢
And We did not find for most of them any covenant; but indeed, We found most of them defiantly disobedient.
7:103:1θummᵃThen
7:103:2baʕaθnāWe sent
7:103:3minᵐfrom
7:103:4baʕdihimafter them
7:103:6biʾāyātināwith Our Signs
7:103:9wamalaʾihiand his chiefs,
7:103:10faẓalamūBut they were unjust
7:103:11bihāto them.
7:103:12faᵤnẓurSo see
7:103:15ʕāqibaẗᵘ(the) end
7:103:16ₐlmufsidīnᵃ(of) the corrupters.
۝١٠٣
Then We sent after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were unjust toward them. So see how was the end of the corrupters.
7:104:1waqālᵃAnd said
7:104:3yāfirʕawnᵘ"O Firaun!
7:104:4ʾinnīIndeed, I am
7:104:5rasūlᵘⁿa Messenger
7:104:7rrabbⁱ(the) Lord
7:104:8ₐlʕālamīnᵃ(of) the worlds
۝١٠٤
And Moses said, "O Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds

7:105:5ʾaqūlᵃI say
7:105:7ₐllahⁱAllah

7:105:11jiʾtukumI (have) come to you
7:105:12bibayyinaẗⁱⁿwith a clear Sign

7:105:16maʕīᵃwith me

7:105:18ʾisrāʾīlᵃ(of) Israel."
۝١٠٥
[Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel."
7:106:1qālᵃHe said,
7:106:3kuntᵃyou have
7:106:5biʾāyaẗⁱⁿwith a Sign,
7:106:6faʾtⁱthen bring
7:106:9kuntᵃyou are
7:106:11ₐlṣṣādiqīnᵃthe truthful."
۝١٠٦
[Pharaoh] said, "If you have come with a sign, then bring it forth, if you should be of the truthful."
7:107:1faʾalqāSo he threw
7:107:2ʕaṣāhᵘhis staff,
7:107:3faʾiðāand suddenly
7:107:5θuʕbānᵘⁿ(was) a serpent,
7:107:6mmubīnᵘⁿmanifest.
۝١٠٧
So Moses threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest.
7:108:1wanazaʕᵃAnd he drew out
7:108:2yadahuhis hand
7:108:3faʾiðāand suddenly
7:108:5bayḍāʾᵘ(was) white
7:108:6lilnnāẓirīnᵃfor the observers.
۝١٠٨
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white [with radiance] for the observers.
7:109:2ₐlmalaʾᵘthe chiefs
7:109:4qawmⁱ(the) people
7:109:5firʕawnᵃ(of) Firaun,
7:109:6ʾinnᵃ"Indeed,
7:109:8lasāḥirᵘⁿ(is) surely a magician -
7:109:9ʕalīmᵘⁿlearned.
۝١٠٩
Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician
7:110:1yurīdᵘHe wants
7:110:3yuḫrijakumdrive you out
7:110:5ʾarḍikumyour land,
7:110:6famāðāso what
7:110:7taʾmurūnᵃ(do) you instruct?"
۝١١٠
Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?"
7:111:2ʾarjih"Postpone him
7:111:3waʾaḫāhᵘand his brother,
7:111:6ₐlmadāʾinⁱthe cities

۝١١١
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
7:112:1yaʾtūkᵃThey (will) bring to you

۝١١٢

7:113:1wajāʾᵃSo came
7:113:2ₐlssaḥaraẗᵘthe magicians
7:113:3firʕawnᵃ(to) Firaun.
7:113:5ʾinnᵃ"Indeed,
7:113:7laʾajraⁿsurely (will be) a reward

۝١١٣
And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant."
7:114:1qālᵃHe said,
7:114:3waʾinnakumand indeed you
7:114:4laminᵃsurely (will be) of
7:114:5ₐlmuqarrabīnᵃthe ones who are near."
۝١١٤
He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]."
7:115:1qālūThey said,
7:115:3ʾimmāWhether
7:115:4ʾan[that]
7:115:5tulqīᵃyou throw
7:115:6waʾimmāor Whether

۝١١٥
They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]."
7:116:1qālᵃHe said,
7:116:3falammāThen when
7:116:4ʾalqawthey threw,
7:116:5saḥarūthey bewitched
7:116:6ʾaʕyunᵃ(the) eyes
7:116:7ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the people,
7:116:8waᵢstarhabūhumand terrified them
7:116:9wajāʾūand came (up)
7:116:10bisiḥrⁱⁿwith a magic
7:116:11ʕaẓīmⁱⁿgreat.
۝١١٦
He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic.
