11:61:2θamūdᵃThamud
11:61:3ʾaḫāhum(We sent) their brother
11:61:4ṣāliḥaⁿSalih.
11:61:5qālᵃHe said,
11:61:6yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
11:61:8ₐllahᵃAllah,
11:61:10lakumyou have
11:61:12ʾilāhⁱⁿgod
11:61:13ġayruhuother than Him.

11:61:24ʾinnᵃIndeed,

۝٦١
And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive."
11:62:1qālūThey said,
11:62:2yāṣāliḥᵘO Salih!
11:62:4kuntᵃyou were
11:62:5fīnāamong us
11:62:6marjuwwaⁿthe one in whom hope was placed
11:62:7qablᵃbefore
11:62:9ʾatanhānāDo you forbid us

11:62:19tadʕūnāyou call us

11:62:21murībⁱⁿsuspicious."
۝٦٢
They said, "O Salih, you were among us a man of promise before this. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshipped? And indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt."
11:63:1qālᵃHe said,
11:63:2yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
11:63:3ʾaraʾaytumDo you see,
11:63:7bayyinaẗⁱⁿa clear proof
11:63:9rrabbīmy Lord,
11:63:10waʾātānīand He has given me
11:63:11minhᵘfrom Him,
11:63:12raḥmaẗᵃⁿa Mercy
11:63:13famanthen who

11:63:16ₐllahⁱAllah,
11:63:18ʕaṣaytuhuI (were to) disobey Him?
11:63:20tazīdūnanīyou would increase me
11:63:22taḫsīrⁱⁿ(in) loss.
۝٦٣
He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has given me mercy from Himself, who would protect me from Allah if I disobeyed Him? So you would not increase me except in loss.
11:64:1wayāqawmⁱAnd O my people!
11:64:3nāqaẗᵘshe-camel
11:64:4ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah

۝٦٤
And O my people, this is the she-camel of Allah - [she is] to you a sign. So let her feed upon Allah 's earth and do not touch her with harm, or you will be taken by an impending punishment."
11:65:1faʕaqarūhāBut they hamstrung her.
11:65:2faqālᵃSo he said,
11:65:3tamattaʕū"Enjoy (yourselves)
11:65:5dārikumyour home(s)
11:65:6θalāθaẗᵃ(for) three

11:65:8ðālikᵃThat
11:65:9waʕdᵘⁿ(is) a promise
11:65:11makðūbⁱⁿ(to) be belied."
۝٦٥
But they hamstrung her, so he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. That is a promise not to be denied."
11:66:3ʾamrunāOur command
11:66:5ṣāliḥaⁿSalih,
11:66:6waₐllaðīnᵃand those who
11:66:8maʕahuwith him,
11:66:9biraḥmaẗⁱⁿby a Mercy
11:66:10mminnāfrom Us,
11:66:12ḫizāⁱ(the) disgrace
11:66:13yawmiʾiðⁱⁿ(of) that Day.
11:66:14ʾinnᵃIndeed,
11:66:15rabbakᵃyour Lord,
11:66:17ₐlqawīīᵘ(is) All-Strong,
11:66:18ₐlʕazīzᵘAll-Mighty.
۝٦٦
So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
11:67:1waʾaḫaðᵃAnd seized
11:67:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
11:67:3ẓalamūwronged,
11:67:4ₐlṣṣayḥaẗᵘthe thunderous blast
11:67:5faʾaṣbaḥūthen they became
11:67:7diyārihimtheir homes
11:67:8jāθimīnᵃfallen prone.
۝٦٧
And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone
11:68:3yaġnawthey (had) prospered
11:68:4fīhātherein.
11:68:5ʾalāNo doubt,
11:68:6ʾinnᵃindeed,
11:68:8kafarūdisbelieved
11:68:9rabbahum(in) their Lord,
11:68:12lliθamūdᵃwith Thamud.
۝٦٨
As if they had never prospered therein. Unquestionably, Thamud denied their Lord; then, away with Thamud.
11:69:1walaqadAnd certainly
11:69:3rusulunāOur messengers
11:69:4ʾibrāhīmᵃ(to) Ibrahim
11:69:5biₐlbušrāwith glad tidings,
11:69:6qālūthey said,
11:69:7salāmaⁿ"Peace."
11:69:8qālᵃHe said,
11:69:9salāmᵘⁿ"Peace,"
11:69:10famāand not he delayed
11:69:14biʕijlⁱⁿa calf
11:69:15ḥanīðⁱⁿroasted.
۝٦٩
And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.
11:70:1falammāBut when
11:70:3ʾaydiyahumtheir hands
11:70:5taṣilᵘreaching
11:70:6ʾilayhⁱto it,
11:70:7nakirahumhe felt unfamiliar of them
11:70:8waʾawjasᵃand felt apprehension
11:70:10ḫīfaẗᵃⁿ[a fear].
11:70:11qālūThey said,
11:70:12"(Do) not
11:70:14ʾinnāIndeed, we
11:70:15ʾursilnā[we] have been sent
11:70:17qawmⁱ(the) people
11:70:18lūṭⁱⁿ(of) Lut."
۝٧٠
But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
11:71:1waᵢmraʾatuhuAnd his wife
11:71:2qāʾimaẗᵘⁿ(was) standing
11:71:3faḍaḥikatand she laughed.
11:71:4fabaššarnāhāThen We gave her glad tidings
11:71:5biʾisḥāqᵃof Isaac,
11:71:6waminand after
11:71:8ʾisḥāqᵃIsaac
11:71:9yaʕqūbᵃ(of) Yaqub.
۝٧١
And his Wife was standing, and she smiled. Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob.
11:72:1qālatShe said,
11:72:3ʾaʾalidᵘShall I bear a child
11:72:4waʾanāwhile I am
11:72:5ʕajūzᵘⁿan old woman
11:72:6wahāðāand this,
11:72:7baʕlīmy husband,
11:72:8šayḫaⁿ(is) an old man?
11:72:9ʾinnᵃIndeed,
11:72:11lašayʾᵘⁿ(is) surely a thing
11:72:12ʕajībᵘⁿamazing."
۝٧٢
She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing!"
11:73:2ʾataʕjabīnᵃ"Are you amazed
11:73:4ʾamrⁱ(the) decree of Allah?
11:73:6raḥmatᵘThe Mercy of Allah
11:73:8wabarakātuhuand His blessings
11:73:9ʕalaykum(be) upon you,
11:73:10ʾahlᵃpeople
11:73:11ₐlbaytⁱ(of) the house.
11:73:12ʾinnahuIndeed, He
11:73:13ḥamīdᵘⁿ(is) All-Praiseworthy,
11:73:14mmajīdᵘⁿAll-Glorious."
۝٧٣
They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable."
11:74:1falammāAnd when
11:74:2ðahabᵃ(had) gone away
11:74:4ʾibrāhīmᵃIbrahim
11:74:5ₐlrrawʕᵘthe fright,
11:74:6wajāʾathᵘand had reached him
11:74:7ₐlbušrāthe glad tidings,
11:74:8yujādilunāhe argued with Us,
11:74:9concerning
11:74:10qawmⁱthe people
11:74:11lūṭⁱⁿof Lut.
۝٧٤
And when the fright had left Abraham and the good tidings had reached him, he began to argue with Us concerning the people of Lot.
11:75:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
11:75:2ʾibrāhīmᵃIbrahim
11:75:3laḥalīmᵘⁿ(was) certainly forbearing,
11:75:4ʾawwāhᵘⁿimploring,
11:75:5mmunībᵘⁿand oft-returning.
۝٧٥
Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allah].
11:76:1yāʾibrāhīmᵘO Ibrahim!
11:76:2ʾaʕriḍTurn away
11:76:5ʾinnahuIndeed, it
11:76:6qadcertainly
11:76:7jāʾᵃhas come,
11:76:8ʾamrᵘ(the) Command
11:76:9rabbikᵃ(of) your Lord
11:76:10waʾinnahumand indeed, [they]
11:76:11ʾātīhim(will) come (for) them
11:76:12ʕaðābᵘⁿa punishment
11:76:13ġayrᵘ(which) cannot
11:76:14mardūdⁱⁿ(be) repelled.
۝٧٦
[The angels said], "O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled."
11:77:1walammāAnd when
11:77:3rusulunāOur messengers
11:77:4lūṭaⁿ(to) Lut,
11:77:5sīʾᵃhe was distressed
11:77:6bihimfor them
11:77:7waḍāqᵃand felt straitened
11:77:8bihimfor them
11:77:9ðarʕaⁿ(and) uneasy,
11:77:10waqālᵃand said,
11:77:12yawmᵘⁿ(is) a day
11:77:13ʕaṣībᵘⁿdistressful."
۝٧٧
And when Our messengers, [the angels], came to Lot, he was anguished for them and felt for them great discomfort and said, "This is a trying day."
11:78:1wajāʾahuAnd came (to) him
11:78:2qawmuhuhis people
11:78:3yuhraʕūnᵃrushing,
11:78:4ʾilayhⁱto him,
11:78:5waminand before
11:78:7kānūthey (had) been
11:78:9ₐlssayyiʾātⁱthe evil deeds.
11:78:10qālᵃHe said,
11:78:11yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
11:78:13banātī(are) my daughters,
11:78:15ʾaṭharᵘ(are) purer
11:78:18ₐllahᵃAllah
11:78:19walāand (do) not
11:78:20tuḫzūnⁱdisgrace me
11:78:21concerning
11:78:22ḍayfīmy guests.
11:78:23ʾalaysᵃIs (there) not

11:78:25rajulᵘⁿa man
11:78:26rrašīdᵘⁿright-minded?"
۝٧٨
And his people came hastening to him, and before [this] they had been doing evil deeds. He said, "O my people, these are my daughters; they are purer for you. So fear Allah and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there not among you a man of reason?"
11:79:1qālūThey said,
11:79:3ʕalimtᵃyou know
11:79:4(that) not
11:79:5lanāwe have
11:79:6concerning
11:79:7banātikᵃyour daughters

11:79:10waʾinnakᵃAnd indeed, you
11:79:11lataʕlamᵘsurely know
11:79:13nurīdᵘwe want."
۝٧٩
They said, "You have already known that we have not concerning your daughters any claim, and indeed, you know what we want."
11:80:1qālᵃHe said,
11:80:3ʾannᵃthat
11:80:5bikumover you
11:80:6quwwaẗᵃⁿpower
11:80:8ʾāwīI could take refuge

11:80:11šadīdⁱⁿstrong."
۝٨٠
He said, "If only I had against you some power or could take refuge in a strong support."
11:81:1qālūThey said,
11:81:2yālūṭᵘ"O Lut!
11:81:3ʾinnāIndeed, we
11:81:4rusulᵘ(are) messengers
11:81:5rabbikᵃ(of) your Lord,
11:81:7yaṣilūthey will reach
11:81:9faʾasrⁱSo travel

11:81:11biqiṭʕⁱⁿin a part
11:81:13ₐllaylⁱthe night
11:81:14walāand (let) not

11:81:20ʾinnahuIndeed, it
11:81:21muṣībuhāwill strike her

11:81:24ʾinnᵃIndeed,

11:81:27ʾalaysᵃIs not
11:81:28ₐlṣṣubḥᵘthe morning
11:81:29biqarībⁱⁿnear?"
۝٨١
The angels said, "O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; [therefore], they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night and let not any among you look back - except your wife; indeed, she will be struck by that which strikes them. Indeed, their appointment is [for] the morning. Is not the morning near?"
11:82:3ʾamrunāOur Command,
11:82:5ʕāliyahāits upside,
11:82:6sāfilahāits downside,
11:82:7waʾamṭarnāand We rained

11:82:12mmanḍūdⁱⁿ(in) layers.
۝٨٢
So when Our command came, We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay, [which were]
11:83:1mmusawwamaẗᵃⁿMarked
11:83:2ʕindᵃfrom
11:83:3rabbikᵃyour Lord.
