18:32:1waᵢḍribAnd set forth
18:32:2lahumto them
18:32:3mmaθalaⁿthe example
18:32:4rrajulaynⁱof two men:
18:32:5jaʕalnāWe provided
18:32:6liʾaḥadihimāfor one of them
18:32:7jannataynⁱtwo gardens
18:32:9ʾaʕnābⁱⁿgrapes,
18:32:10waḥafafnāhumāand We bordered them
18:32:11binaḫlⁱⁿwith date-palms,
18:32:12wajaʕalnāand We placed
18:32:13baynahumābetween both of them
18:32:14zarʕaⁿcrops.
۝٣٢
And present to them an example of two men: We granted to one of them two gardens of grapevines, and We bordered them with palm trees and placed between them [fields of] crops.
18:33:2ₐljannataynⁱ(of) the two gardens

18:33:8šayʾaⁿanything.
18:33:9wafajjarnāAnd We caused to gush forth
18:33:10ḫilālahumāwithin them
18:33:11naharaⁿa river.
۝٣٣
Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river.
18:34:1wakānᵃAnd was
18:34:3θamarᵘⁿfruit,
18:34:4faqālᵃso he said
18:34:5liṣāḥibihito his companion
18:34:6wahuwᵃwhile he
18:34:7yuḥāwiruhu(was) talking with him,

۝٣٤
And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men."
18:35:1wadaḫalᵃAnd he entered
18:35:2jannatahuhis garden
18:35:3wahuwᵃwhile he
18:35:4ẓālimᵘⁿ(was) unjust
18:35:5llinafsihito himself.
18:35:6qālᵃHe said,
18:35:8ʾaẓunnᵘI think
18:35:10tabīdᵃwill perish
18:35:12ʾabadaⁿever.
۝٣٥
And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself. He said, "I do not think that this will perish - ever.
18:36:2ʾaẓunnᵘI think
18:36:3ₐlssāʕaẗᵃthe Hour
18:36:4qāʾimaẗᵃⁿwill occur.
18:36:5walaʾinAnd if
18:36:6rrudidttᵘI am brought back
18:36:8rabbīmy Lord,
18:36:9laʾajidannᵃI will surely find
18:36:10ḫayraⁿbetter
18:36:11mminhāthan this
18:36:12munqalabaⁿ(as) a return."
۝٣٦
And I do not think the Hour will occur. And even if I should be brought back to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a return."
18:37:3ṣāḥibuhuhis companion
18:37:4wahuwᵃwhile he
18:37:5yuḥāwiruhuwas talking to him,
18:37:6ʾakafartᵃ"Do you disbelieve

۝٣٧
His companion said to him while he was conversing with him, "Have you disbelieved in He who created you from dust and then from a sperm-drop and then proportioned you [as] a man?
18:38:1llākinnāBut as for me,
18:38:3ₐllahᵘ(is) Allah,
18:38:4rabbīmy Lord,
18:38:6ʾušrikᵘI associate
18:38:7birabbīwith my Lord
18:38:8ʾaḥadaⁿanyone.
۝٣٨
But as for me, He is Allah, my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone.
18:39:1walawlāAnd why (did you) not,
18:39:3daḫaltᵃyou entered
18:39:4jannatakᵃyour garden
18:39:7šāʾᵃwills
18:39:8ₐllahᵘAllah;
18:39:9(there is) no
18:39:10quwwaẗᵃpower

18:39:14taranⁱyou see me

18:39:17minkᵃthan you
18:39:18mālaⁿ(in) wealth

۝٣٩
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,
18:40:1faʕasāIt may be
18:40:2rabbīthat my Lord
18:40:4yuʾtiyanⁱwill give me
18:40:5ḫayraⁿbetter
18:40:7jannatikᵃyour garden
18:40:8wayursilᵃand will send
18:40:10ḥusbānaⁿa calamity
18:40:12ₐlssamāʾⁱthe sky,
18:40:13fatuṣbiḥᵃthen it will become
18:40:14ṣaʕīdaⁿground
18:40:15zalaqaⁿslippery,
۝٤٠
It may be that my Lord will give me [something] better than your garden and will send upon it a calamity from the sky, and it will become a smooth, dusty ground,
18:41:2yuṣbiḥᵃwill become,
18:41:3māʾuhāits water,

۝٤١
Or its water will become sunken [into the earth], so you would never be able to seek it."
18:42:1waʾuḥīṭᵃAnd were surrounded
18:42:2biθamarihihis fruits,
18:42:3faʾaṣbaḥᵃso he began
18:42:4yuqallibᵘtwisting
18:42:5kaffayhⁱhis hands
18:42:8ʾanfaqᵃhe (had) spent
18:42:10wahīᵃwhile it (had)
18:42:11ḫāwiyaẗᵘⁿcollapsed
18:42:13ʕurūšihāits trellises,
18:42:14wayaqūlᵘand he said,
18:42:15yālaytanī"Oh! I wish
18:42:16lamI had not associated
18:42:18birabbīwith my Lord
18:42:19ʾaḥadaⁿanyone."
۝٤٢
And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, "Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone."
18:43:4fiʾaẗᵘⁿa group
18:43:5yanṣurūnahu(to) help him
18:43:6minother than
18:43:8ₐllahⁱAllah,
18:43:9wamāand not
18:43:11muntaṣiraⁿ(he) supported.
۝٤٣
And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor could he defend himself.
18:44:1hunālikᵃThere,
18:44:2ₐlwalāyaẗᵘthe protection
18:44:3lillahⁱ(is) from Allah
18:44:4ₐlḥaqqⁱthe True.
18:44:6ḫayrᵘⁿ(is the) best
18:44:7θawābaⁿ(to) reward
18:44:8waḫayrᵘⁿand (the) best
18:44:9ʕuqbaⁿ(for) the final end.
۝٤٤
There the authority is [completely] for Allah, the Truth. He is best in reward and best in outcome.
18:45:1waᵢḍribAnd present
18:45:2lahumto them
18:45:3mmaθalᵃthe example
18:45:4ₐlḥayawẗⁱ(of) the life
18:45:5ₐlddunyā(of) the world,
18:45:6kamāʾⁱⁿlike water
18:45:7ʾanzalnāhᵘwhich We send down
18:45:8minᵃfrom
18:45:9ₐlssamāʾⁱthe sky,
18:45:10faᵢḫtalaṭᵃthen mingles
18:45:12nabātᵘ(the) vegetation
18:45:13ₐlʾarḍⁱ(of) the earth
18:45:14faʾaṣbaḥᵃthen becomes
18:45:15hašīmaⁿdry stalks,
18:45:16taðrūhᵘit (is) scattered
18:45:17ₐlrriyāḥᵘ(by) the winds.
18:45:18wakānᵃAnd Allah
18:45:21kullⁱevery
18:45:22šayʾⁱⁿthing
18:45:23mmuqtadiraⁿ(is) All Able.
۝٤٥
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.
18:46:1ₐlmālᵘThe wealth
18:46:2waₐlbanūnᵃand children
18:46:3zīnaẗᵘ(are) adornment
18:46:4ₐlḥayawẗⁱ(of) the life
18:46:5ₐlddunyā(of) the world.
18:46:6waₐlbāqiyātᵘBut the enduring
18:46:7ₐlṣṣāliḥātᵘgood deeds
18:46:8ḫayrᵘⁿ(are) better
18:46:9ʕindᵃnear
18:46:10rabbikᵃyour Lord
18:46:11θawābaⁿ(for) reward
18:46:12waḫayrᵘⁿand better
18:46:13ʾamalaⁿ(for) hope.
۝٤٦
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.
18:47:1wayawmᵃAnd the Day
18:47:2nusayyirᵘWe will cause (to) move
18:47:3ₐljibālᵃthe mountains
18:47:4watarāand you will see
18:47:5ₐlʾarḍᵃthe earth
18:47:6bārizaẗᵃⁿ(as) a leveled plain
18:47:7waḥašarnāhumand We will gather them
18:47:9nuġādirWe will leave behind
18:47:11ʾaḥadaⁿanyone.
۝٤٧
And [warn of] the Day when We will remove the mountains and you will see the earth prominent, and We will gather them and not leave behind from them anyone.
18:48:1waʕuriḍūAnd they will be presented
18:48:3rabbikᵃyour Lord
18:48:4ṣaffaⁿ(in) rows,
18:48:5llaqad"Certainly,
18:48:6jiʾtumūnāyou have come to Us
18:48:8ḫalaqnākumWe created you
18:48:9ʾawwalᵃthe first
18:48:10marraẗⁱⁿtime.
18:48:12zaʕamtumyou claimed
18:48:13ʾallanthat not
18:48:14nnajʕalᵃWe made
18:48:15lakumfor you
18:48:16mmawʕidaⁿan appointment."
۝٤٨
And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, [and He will say], "You have certainly come to Us just as We created you the first time. But you claimed that We would never make for you an appointment."
18:49:1wawuḍiʕᵃAnd (will) be placed
18:49:2ₐlkitābᵘthe Book
18:49:3fatarāand you will see
18:49:4ₐlmujrimīnᵃthe criminals
18:49:5mušfiqīnᵃfearful
18:49:6mimmāof what
18:49:7fīhⁱ(is) in it,
18:49:8wayaqūlūnᵃand they will say,
18:49:9yāwaylatanā"Oh, woe to us!
18:49:10mālⁱWhat (is) for
18:49:12ₐlkitābⁱ[the] Book,
18:49:14yuġādirᵘleaves
18:49:15ṣaġīraẗᵃⁿa small
18:49:16walāand not
18:49:17kabīraẗᵃⁿa great
18:49:19ʾaḥṣāhāhas enumerated it?"
18:49:20wawajadūAnd they will find
18:49:23ḥāḍiraⁿpresented.
18:49:24walāAnd not
18:49:25yaẓlimᵘdeals unjustly
18:49:26rabbukᵃyour Lord
18:49:27ʾaḥadaⁿ(with) anyone.
۝٤٩
And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, "Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one.
18:50:1waʾiðAnd when
18:50:3lilmalāʾikaẗⁱto the Angels,
18:50:4ᵤsjudū"Prostrate
18:50:5liʾādamᵃto Adam,"
18:50:6fasajadūso they prostrated
18:50:8ʾiblīsᵃIblis.
18:50:9kānᵃ(He) was
18:50:11ₐljinnⁱthe jinn,
18:50:12fafasaqᵃand he rebelled
18:50:13ʕanagainst
18:50:14ʾamrⁱthe Command
18:50:15rabbihi(of) his Lord.
18:50:16ʾafatattaḫiðūnahuWill you then take him
18:50:17waðurriyyatahuand his offspring
18:50:18ʾawliyāʾᵃ(as) protectors
18:50:19minother than Me,
18:50:21wahumwhile they
18:50:22lakum(are) to you
18:50:23ʕaduwwᵘⁿᵐenemies?
18:50:24biʾsᵃWretched
18:50:25lilẓẓālimīnᵃfor the wrongdoers
18:50:26badalaⁿ(is) the exchange.
۝٥٠
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.
