27:27:1qālᵃHe said,
27:27:2sananẓurᵘ"We will see

[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.

۝٢٨
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return."
27:29:1qālatShe said,
27:29:4ʾinnīIndeed [I],
27:29:5ʾulqīᵃis delivered
27:29:6ʾilayyᵃto me
27:29:7kitābᵘⁿa letter
27:29:8karīmᵘⁿnoble.
۝٢٩
She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter.
27:30:1ʾinnahuIndeed, it
27:30:2min(is) from
27:30:3sulaymānᵃSulaiman
27:30:4waʾinnahuand indeed it (is),

۝٣١
Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].' "
27:32:1qālatShe said,
27:32:4ʾaftūnīAdvise me

27:32:8kuntᵘI would be
27:32:9qāṭiʕaẗᵃⁿthe one to decide

۝٣٢
She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me."
27:33:1qālūThey said,

۝٣٣
They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."
27:34:1qālatShe said,
27:34:2ʾinnᵃ"Indeed,
27:34:3ₐlmulūkᵃthe kings,

27:34:13yafʕalūnᵃthey do.
۝٣٤
She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do.
27:35:1waʾinnīBut indeed, I am

۝٣٥
But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."
27:36:3sulaymānᵃ(to) Sulaiman
27:36:4qālᵃhe said,
27:36:5ʾatumiddūnanⁱ"Will you provide me
27:36:6bimālⁱⁿwith wealth?

27:36:12ʾātākumHe has given you.
27:36:15bihadiyyatikumin your gift

۝٣٦
So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
27:37:1ᵢrjiʕReturn

۝٣٧
Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased."
27:38:1qālᵃHe said,

۝٣٨
[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
27:39:2ʕifrītᵘⁿa strong one

27:39:13waʾinnīAnd indeed, I am
27:39:14ʕalayhⁱfor it
27:39:15laqawīīᵘⁿsurely, strong,
27:39:16ʾamīnᵘⁿtrustworthy."
۝٣٩
A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
27:40:2ₐllaðīone who,
27:40:3ʕindahuwith him
27:40:4ʕilmᵘⁿ(was) knowledge
27:40:6ₐlkitābⁱthe Scripture,

27:40:15falammāThen when
27:40:16raʾāhᵘhe saw it
27:40:18ʕindahubefore him,
27:40:19qālᵃhe said,
27:40:21min(is) from

27:40:30faʾinnamāthen only
27:40:31yaškurᵘhe is grateful
27:40:32linafsihifor his own soul.
27:40:33wamanAnd whoever
27:40:34kafarᵃ(is) ungrateful,
27:40:35faʾinnᵃthen indeed,
27:40:37ġanīīᵘⁿ(is) Self-sufficient,
27:40:38karīmᵘⁿNoble."
۝٤٠
Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."
27:41:1qālᵃHe said,
27:41:3lahāfor her

27:41:5nanẓurwe will see
27:41:6ʾatahtadīwhether she will be guided
27:41:8takūnᵘwill be
27:41:10ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
27:41:11are not guided."
۝٤١
He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."
27:42:2jāʾatshe came,
27:42:3qīlᵃit was said,
27:42:4ʾahākaðā"Is like this
27:42:5ʕaršukⁱyour throne?"
27:42:6qālatShe said,
27:42:7kaʾannahu"It is like
27:42:8huwᵃit."
27:42:9waʾūtīnā"And we were given
27:42:10ₐlʕilmᵃthe knowledge
27:42:11minbefore her
27:42:13wakunnāand we have been
27:42:14muslimīnᵃMuslims."
۝٤٢
So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah].
27:43:1waṣaddahāAnd has averted her
27:43:3kānatshe used (to)
27:43:4ttaʕbudᵘworship
27:43:5minbesides
27:43:7ₐllahⁱAllah.
27:43:8ʾinnahāIndeed, she
27:43:11qawmⁱⁿa people
27:43:12kāfirīnᵃwho disbelieve.
۝٤٣
And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
27:44:1qīlᵃIt was said
27:44:2lahāto her,
27:44:3ᵤdḫulī"Enter
27:44:4ₐlṣṣarḥᵃthe palace."
27:44:5falammāThen when
27:44:6raʾathᵘshe saw it,
27:44:7ḥasibathᵘshe thought it
27:44:8lujjaẗᵃⁿ(was) a pool,
27:44:9wakašafatand she uncovered
27:44:11sāqayhāher shins.
27:44:12qālᵃHe said,
27:44:13ʾinnahu"Indeed, it
27:44:14ṣarḥᵘⁿ(is) a palace
27:44:15mmumarradᵘⁿmade smooth
27:44:17qawārīrᵃglass."
27:44:18qālatShe said,
27:44:19rabbⁱ"My Lord,
27:44:20ʾinnīindeed, I
27:44:21ẓalamtᵘ[I] have wronged
27:44:23waʾaslamtᵘand I submit
27:44:24maʕᵃwith
27:44:25sulaymānᵃSulaiman
27:44:26lillahⁱto Allah,
27:44:27rabbⁱ(the) Lord
27:44:28ₐlʕālamīnᵃ(of) the worlds."
۝٤٤
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
27:45:1walaqadAnd certainly,
27:45:4θamūdᵃThamud
27:45:5ʾaḫāhumtheir brother
27:45:6ṣāliḥaⁿSalih
27:45:7ʾanⁱthat,
27:45:8ᵤʕbudū"Worship
27:45:9ₐllahᵃAllah."
27:45:10faʾiðāThen behold!
27:45:12farīqānⁱ(became) two parties
27:45:13yaḫtaṣimūnᵃquarreling.
۝٤٥
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting.
27:46:1qālᵃHe said,
27:46:2yāqawmⁱ"O my people!
27:46:4tastaʕjilūnᵃ(do) you seek to hasten
27:46:5biₐlssayyiʾaẗⁱthe evil

27:46:7ₐlḥasanaẗⁱthe good?
27:46:9tastaġfirūnᵃyou ask forgiveness
27:46:10ₐllahᵃ(of) Allah
27:46:11laʕallakumso that you may
27:46:12turḥamūnᵃreceive mercy?"
۝٤٦
He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
27:47:1qālūThey said,
27:47:2ᵢṭṭayyarnā"We consider you a bad omen
27:47:4wabimanand those
27:47:5mmaʕakᵃwith you."
27:47:6qālᵃHe said,
27:47:7ṭāʾirukum"Your bad omen
27:47:8ʕindᵃ(is) with
27:47:9ₐllahⁱAllah.
27:47:12qawmᵘⁿ(are) a people
27:47:13tuftanūnᵃbeing tested."
۝٤٧
They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."
27:48:1wakānᵃAnd were
27:48:3ₐlmadīnaẗⁱthe city
27:48:4tisʕaẗᵘnine
27:48:5rahṭⁱⁿfamily heads,
27:48:6yufsidūnᵃthey were spreading corruption
27:48:8ₐlʾarḍⁱthe land
27:48:9walāand not
27:48:10yuṣliḥūnᵃreforming.
۝٤٨
And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].
27:49:1qālūThey said,
27:49:2taqāsamū"Swear to each other
27:49:3biₐllahⁱby Allah
27:49:4lanubayyitannahusurely, we will attack him by night,
27:49:5waʾahlahuand his family.
27:49:6θummᵃThen
27:49:7lanaqūlannᵃwe will surely say
27:49:8liwaliyyihito his heir,
27:49:10šahidnāwe witnessed
27:49:11mahlikᵃ(the) destruction
27:49:12ʾahlihi(of) his family,
27:49:13waʾinnāand indeed, we
27:49:14laṣādiqūnᵃ(are) surely truthful."
۝٤٩
They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' "
27:50:1wamakarūSo they plotted
27:50:2makraⁿa plot
27:50:3wamakarnāand We planned
27:50:4makraⁿa plan,
27:50:5wahumwhile they
27:50:6(did) not
27:50:7yašʕurūnᵃperceive.
۝٥٠
And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.
27:51:1faᵤnẓurThen see
27:51:4ʕāqibaẗᵘ(the) end
27:51:5makrihim(of) their plot,
27:51:6ʾannāthat We
27:51:7dammarnāhumdestroyed them
27:51:8waqawmahumand their people
۝٥١
Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.
27:52:1fatilkᵃSo, these
27:52:2buyūtuhum(are) their houses,
27:52:3ḫāwiyaẗᵃⁿᵐruined
27:52:4bimābecause
27:52:5ẓalamūthey wronged.
27:52:6ʾinnᵃIndeed,
27:52:8ðālikᵃthat
27:52:9laʾāyaẗᵃⁿsurely, is a sign
27:52:10lliqawmⁱⁿfor a people
27:52:11yaʕlamūnᵃwho know.
۝٥٢
So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know.
27:53:1waʾanjaynāAnd We saved
27:53:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
27:53:4wakānūand used (to)
27:53:5yattaqūnᵃfear (Allah).
۝٥٣
And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.
27:54:1walūṭaⁿAnd Lut,
27:54:3qālᵃhe said
27:54:4liqawmihito his people,
27:54:5ʾataʾtūnᵃ"Do you commit
27:54:6ₐlfāḥišaẗᵃ[the] immorality
27:54:7waʾantumwhile you
۝٥٤
And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
27:55:1ʾaʾinnakumWhy do you
27:55:2lataʾtūnᵃapproach
27:55:3ₐlrrijālᵃthe men
27:55:4šahwaẗᵃⁿ(with) lust
27:55:5mmininstead of
27:55:7ₐlnnisāʾⁱthe women?
27:55:10qawmᵘⁿ(are) a people
27:55:11tajhalūnᵃignorant."
۝٥٥
Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly."
