۞
40:41:1wayāqawmⁱAnd O my people!
40:41:2What (is)
40:41:4ʾadʕūkum(that) I call you
40:41:6ₐlnnajawẗⁱthe salvation
40:41:7watadʕūnanīwhile you call me
40:41:9ₐlnnārⁱthe Fire!
۝٤١
And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire?
40:42:1tadʕūnanīYou call me
40:42:2liʾakfurᵃthat I disbelieve
40:42:3biₐllahⁱin Allah
40:42:4waʾušrikᵃand (to) associate
40:42:5bihiwith Him
40:42:8for me
40:42:10ʕilmᵘⁿany knowledge,
40:42:14ₐlʕazīzⁱthe All-Mighty,
40:42:15ₐlġaffārⁱthe Oft-Forgiving.
۝٤٢
You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.
40:43:2jaramᵃdoubt
40:43:3ʾannamāthat what
40:43:4tadʕūnanīyou call me
40:43:8daʕwaẗᵘⁿa claim
40:43:10ₐlddunyāthe world
40:43:11walāand not
40:43:13ₐlʾāḫiraẗⁱthe Hereafter;
40:43:14waʾannᵃand that
40:43:15maraddanāour return
40:43:16ʾilā(is) to
40:43:17ₐllahⁱAllah,
40:43:18waʾannᵃand that
40:43:19ₐlmusrifīnᵃthe transgressors -
40:43:21ʾaṣḥābᵘ(will be the) companions
40:43:22ₐlnnārⁱ(of) the Fire.
۝٤٣
Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire.
40:44:1fasataðkurūnᵃAnd you will remember
40:44:3ʾaqūlᵘI say
40:44:5waʾufawwiḍᵘand I entrust
40:44:6ʾamrīmy affair
40:44:8ₐllahⁱAllah.
40:44:9ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:44:10ₐllahᵃAllah
40:44:11baṣīrᵘⁿᵐ(is) All-Seer
40:44:12biₐlʕibādⁱof (His) slaves."
۝٤٤
And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants."
40:45:1fawaqāhᵘSo Allah protected him
40:45:3sayyiʾātⁱ(from the) evils
40:45:5makarūthey plotted,
40:45:6waḥāqᵃand enveloped
40:45:7biʾālⁱ(the) people
40:45:8firʕawnᵃ(of) Firaun
40:45:9sūʾᵘ(the) worst
40:45:10ₐlʕaðābⁱpunishment,
۝٤٥
So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment -
40:46:1ₐlnnārᵘThe Fire;
40:46:2yuʕraḍūnᵃthey are exposed
40:46:4ġuduwwaⁿmorning
40:46:5waʕašiyyaⁿand evening.
40:46:6wayawmᵃAnd (the) Day
40:46:7taqūmᵘ(will be) established
40:46:8ₐlssāʕaẗᵘthe Hour,
40:46:9ʾadḫilū"Cause to enter
40:46:10ʾālᵃ(the) people
40:46:11firʕawnᵃ(of) Firaun
40:46:12ʾašaddᵃ(in the) severest
40:46:13ₐlʕaðābⁱpunishment."
۝٤٦
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], "Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment."
40:47:1waʾiðAnd when
40:47:2yataḥājjūnᵃthey will dispute
40:47:4ₐlnnārⁱthe Fire,
40:47:5fayaqūlᵘthen will say
40:47:6ₐlḍḍuʕafāʾuthe weak
40:47:7lillaðīnᵃto those who
40:47:8ᵢstakbarūwere arrogant,
40:47:9ʾinnā"Indeed, we
40:47:10kunnā[we] were
40:47:12tabaʕaⁿfollowers,
40:47:16ʕannāfrom us
40:47:17naṣībaⁿa portion
40:47:19ₐlnnārⁱthe Fire?"
۝٤٧
And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?"
40:48:1qālᵃWill say
40:48:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
40:48:3ᵢstakbarū(were) arrogant,
40:48:4ʾinnā"Indeed, we
40:48:5kullᵘⁿall
40:48:6fīhā(are) in it.
40:48:7ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:48:8ₐllahᵃAllah
40:48:9qadcertainly
40:48:10ḥakamᵃhas judged
40:48:11baynᵃbetween
40:48:12ₐlʕibādⁱ(His) slaves"
۝٤٨
Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants."
40:49:1waqālᵃAnd will say
40:49:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose
40:49:4ₐlnnārⁱthe Fire
40:49:5liḫazanaẗⁱto (the) keepers
40:49:6jahannamᵃ(of) Hell,
40:49:8rabbakumyour Lord
40:49:9yuḫaffif(to) lighten
40:49:13ₐlʕaðābⁱthe punishment."
۝٤٩
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment."
40:50:1qālūThey (will) say,
40:50:2ʾawalam"Did there not
40:50:4taʾtīkumcome to you
40:50:5rusulukumyour Messengers
40:50:6biₐlbayyinātⁱwith clear proofs?"
40:50:7qālūThey (will) say,
40:50:9qālūThey (will) say,
40:50:10faᵤdʕū"Then call,
40:50:11wamābut not
40:50:12duʕāʾu(is the) call
40:50:13ₐlkāfirīnᵃ(of) the disbelievers
40:50:16ḍalālⁱⁿerror."
۝٥٠
They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error."
40:51:1ʾinnāIndeed We,
40:51:2lananṣurᵘWe will surely help
40:51:3rusulanāOur Messengers
40:51:4waₐllaðīnᵃand those who
40:51:7ₐlḥayawẗⁱthe life
40:51:8ₐlddunyā(of) the world
40:51:9wayawmᵃand (on the) Day
40:51:10yaqūmᵘ(when) will stand
40:51:11ₐlʾašhādᵘthe witnesses,
۝٥١
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand -
40:52:1yawmᵃ(The) Day
40:52:3yanfaʕᵘwill benefit
40:52:4ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃthe wrongdoers
40:52:5maʕðiratuhumtheir excuse,
40:52:6walahumᵘand for them
40:52:7ₐllaʕnaẗᵘ(is) the curse
40:52:8walahumand for them
40:52:9sūʾᵘ(is the) worst
40:52:10ₐlddārⁱhome.
۝٥٢
The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home.
40:53:1walaqadAnd certainly,
40:53:4ₐlhudāthe guidance
40:53:5waʾawraθnāand We caused to inherit
40:53:6banī(the) Children of Israel
40:53:8ₐlkitābᵃthe Book,
۝٥٣
And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture
40:54:1hudaⁿA guide
40:54:2waðikrāand a reminder
40:54:3liʾulīfor those
40:54:4ₐlʾalbābⁱ(of) understanding.
۝٥٤
As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding.
40:55:1faᵢṣbirSo be patient;
40:55:2ʾinnᵃindeed,
40:55:3waʕdᵃ(the) Promise of Allah
40:55:5ḥaqqᵘⁿ(is) true.
40:55:6waᵢstaġfirAnd ask forgiveness
40:55:7liðanᵐbikᵃfor your sin
40:55:8wasabbiḥand glorify
40:55:9biḥamdⁱ(the) praise
40:55:10rabbikᵃ(of) your Lord
40:55:11biₐlʕašīīⁱin the evening
40:55:12waₐlʾibkārⁱand the morning.
۝٥٥
So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.
40:56:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:56:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
40:56:3yujādilūnᵃdispute
40:56:4concerning
40:56:5ʾāyātⁱ(the) Signs
40:56:6ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
40:56:7biġayrⁱwithout
40:56:8sulṭānⁱⁿany authority
40:56:9ʾatāhum(which) came to them,
40:56:11(is) in
40:56:12ṣudūrihimtheir breasts
40:56:14kibrᵘⁿgreatness,
40:56:17bibāliġīhⁱ(can) reach it.
40:56:18faᵢstaʕiðSo seek refuge
40:56:19biₐllahⁱin Allah.
40:56:20ʾinnahuIndeed He,
40:56:22ₐlssamīʕᵘ(is) the All-Hearer
40:56:23ₐlbaṣīrᵘthe All-Seer.
۝٥٦
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
40:57:1laḫalqᵘSurely, (the) creation
40:57:2ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens
40:57:3waₐlʾarḍⁱand the earth
40:57:4ʾakbarᵘ(is) greater
40:57:6ḫalqⁱ(the) creation
40:57:7ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the mankind,
40:57:10ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the people
40:57:11(do) not
۝٥٧
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know.
40:58:1wamāAnd not
40:58:2yastawī(are) equal
40:58:3ₐlʾaʕmāthe blind
40:58:4waₐlbaṣīrᵘand the seeing
40:58:5waₐllaðīnᵃand those who
40:58:8ₐlṣṣāliḥātⁱrighteous deeds
40:58:9walāand not
40:58:10ₐlmusīʾᵘthe evildoer.
40:58:11qalīlaⁿLittle
40:58:12mmā(is) what
40:58:13tataðakkarūnᵃyou take heed.
۝٥٨
And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember.
40:59:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:59:2ₐlssāʕaẗᵃthe Hour
40:59:3laʾātiyaẗᵘⁿ(is) surely coming,
40:59:9ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the people
40:59:10(do) not
40:59:11yuʾminūnᵃbelieve.
۝٥٩
Indeed, the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - but most of the people do not believe.
40:60:1waqālᵃAnd said
40:60:2rabbukumᵘyour Lord,
40:60:3ᵤdʕūnī"Call upon Me;
40:60:4ʾastajibI will respond
40:60:6ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:60:7ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
40:60:8yastakbirūnᵃ(are) proud
40:60:10ʕibādatīworship Me
40:60:11sayadḫulūnᵃwill enter
40:60:13dāḫirīnᵃ(in) humiliation."
۝٦٠
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.
40:61:1ₐllahᵘAllah
40:61:2ₐllaðī(is) the One Who
40:61:3jaʕalᵃmade
40:61:4lakumᵘfor you
40:61:5ₐllaylᵃthe night
40:61:6litaskunūthat you may rest
40:61:7fīhⁱin it,
40:61:8waₐlnnahārᵃand the day
40:61:9mubṣiraⁿgiving visibility.
40:61:10ʾinnᵃIndeed,
40:61:11ₐllahᵃAllah
40:61:12laðū(is) Full (of) Bounty
40:61:15ₐlnnāsⁱthe people,
40:61:18ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the people
40:61:19(do) not
40:61:20yaškurūnᵃgive thanks.
۝٦١
It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful.
40:62:2ₐllahᵘ(is) Allah
40:62:3rabbukumyour Lord,
40:62:4ḫāliqᵘ(the) Creator
40:62:5kullⁱ(of) all
40:62:6šayʾⁱⁿthings,
40:62:7llā(there is) no
40:62:9ʾillāexcept
40:62:12tuʾfakūnᵃare you deluded?
۝٦٢
That is Allah, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded?
40:63:2yuʾfakᵘwere deluded
40:63:3ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
40:63:5biʾāyātⁱ(the) Signs
40:63:6ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah,
40:63:7yajḥadūnᵃrejecting.
۝٦٣
Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of Allah.
40:64:1ₐllahᵘAllah
40:64:2ₐllaðī(is) the One Who
40:64:3jaʕalᵃmade
40:64:4lakumᵘfor you
40:64:5ₐlʾarḍᵃthe earth
40:64:6qarāraⁿa place of settlement
40:64:7waₐlssamāʾᵃand the sky

40:64:9waṣawwarakumand He formed you
40:64:10faʾaḥsanᵃand perfected
40:64:11ṣuwarakumyour forms,
40:64:12warazaqakumand provided you
40:64:14ₐlṭṭayyibātⁱthe good things.
40:64:16ₐllahᵘ(is) Allah,
40:64:17rabbukumyour Lord.
40:64:18fatabārakᵃThen blessed (is)
40:64:19ₐllahᵘAllah,
40:64:20rabbᵘ(the) Lord
40:64:21ₐlʕālamīnᵃ(of) the worlds.
۝٦٤
It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds.
40:65:2ₐlḥayyᵘ(is) the Ever-Living;
40:65:3(there is) no
40:65:7faᵤdʕūhᵘso call Him,
40:65:8muḫliṣīnᵃ(being) sincere
40:65:9lahᵘto Him
40:65:10ₐlddīnᵃ(in) the religion.
40:65:11ₐlḥamdᵘAll praise (be)
40:65:12lillahⁱto Allah,
40:65:13rabbⁱ(the) Lord
40:65:14ₐlʕālamīnᵃ(of) the worlds.
۝٦٥
He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
