20:55:2ḫalaqnākumWe created you,
20:55:3wafīhāand in it
20:55:4nuʕīdukumWe will return you,
20:55:5waminhāand from it
20:55:6nuḫrijukumWe will bring you out,
20:55:7tāraẗᵃⁿtime
20:55:8ʾuḫrāanother.
۝٥٥
From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.
20:56:1walaqadAnd verily,
20:56:2ʾaraynāhᵘWe showed him
20:56:3ʾāyātināOur Signs,
20:56:4kullahāall of them,
20:56:5fakaððabᵃbut he denied
20:56:6waʾabāand refused.
۝٥٦
And We certainly showed Pharaoh Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.
20:57:1qālᵃHe said,
20:57:2ʾajiʾtanā"Have you come to us
20:57:3lituḫrijanāto drive us out
20:57:5ʾarḍināour land
20:57:6bisiḥrikᵃwith your magic,
۝٥٧
He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?
20:58:1falanaʾtiyannakᵃThen we will surely produce for you
20:58:2bisiḥrⁱⁿmagic
20:58:4faᵢjʕalSo make
20:58:5baynanābetween us
20:58:6wabaynakᵃand between you
20:58:7mawʕidaⁿan appointment,
20:58:9nuḫlifuhuwe will fail it
20:58:12ʾantᵃyou,
20:58:13makānaⁿ(in) a place
20:58:14suwaⁿeven."
۝٥٨
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."
20:59:1qālᵃHe said,
20:59:2mawʕidukum"Your appointment
20:59:3yawmᵘ(is on the) day
20:59:4ₐlzzīnaẗⁱ(of) the festival,

20:59:6yuḥšarᵃwill be assembled
20:59:7ₐlnnāsᵘthe people
20:59:8ḍuḥaⁿ(at) forenoon."
۝٥٩
[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning."
20:60:1fatawallāThen went away
20:60:3fajamaʕᵃand put together
20:60:5θummᵃthen
۝٦٠
So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses].
20:61:2lahumto them
20:61:4waylakum"Woe to you!
20:61:5(Do) not
20:61:7ʕalāagainst

20:61:10fayusḥitakumlest He will destroy you
20:61:11biʕaðābⁱⁿwith a punishment.
20:61:12waqadAnd verily,
20:61:13ḫābᵃhe failed
20:61:15ᵢftarāinvented."
۝٦١
Moses said to the magicians summoned by Pharaoh, "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allah or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."
20:62:1fatanāzaʕūThen they disputed
20:62:2ʾamrahum(in) their affair
20:62:3baynahumamong them,
20:62:4waʾasarrūand they kept secret
20:62:5ₐlnnajwāthe private conversation.
۝٦٢
So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation.
20:63:2ʾin"Indeed,
20:63:3hāðānⁱthese two
20:63:4lasāḥirānⁱ[two] magicians
20:63:5yurīdānⁱthey intend

۝٦٣
They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way.
20:64:1faʾajmiʕūSo put together
20:64:3θummᵃthen
20:64:5ṣaffaⁿ(in) a line.
20:64:6waqadAnd verily,
20:64:7ʾaflaḥᵃ(will be) successful
20:64:10ᵢstaʕlāovercomes."
۝٦٤
So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes."
20:65:1qālūThey said,
20:65:4ʾan[that]
20:65:5tulqīᵃyou throw
20:65:7ʾan[that]
20:65:8nnakūnᵃwe will be
20:65:9ʾawwalᵃthe first
۝٦٥
They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw."
20:66:1qālᵃHe said,
20:66:3ʾalqūyou throw."
20:66:4faʾiðāThen behold!
20:66:5ḥibāluhumTheir ropes
20:66:6waʕiṣiyyuhumand their staffs
20:66:7yuḫayyalᵘseemed
20:66:8ʾilayhⁱto him
20:66:10siḥrihimtheir magic
20:66:11ʾannahāthat they
20:66:12tasʕā(were) moving.
۝٦٦
He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].
20:67:1faʾawjasᵃSo sensed
20:67:4ḫīfaẗᵃⁿa fear,
۝٦٧
And he sensed within himself apprehension, did Moses.
20:68:1qulnāWe said,
20:68:2"(Do) not
20:68:4ʾinnakᵃIndeed, you
20:68:6ₐlʾaʕlā(will be) superior.
۝٦٨
Allah said, "Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior.
20:69:1waʾalqⁱAnd throw

20:69:14ₐlssāḥirᵘthe magician
20:69:15ḥayθᵘwherever
20:69:16ʾatāhe comes."
۝٦٩
And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is."
20:70:1faʾulqīᵃSo were thrown down
20:70:2ₐlssaḥaraẗᵘthe magicians
20:70:3sujjadaⁿprostrating.
20:70:5ʾāmannā"We believe
20:70:6birabbⁱin (the) Lord

20:70:8wamūsāand Musa."
۝٧٠
So the magicians fell down in prostration. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."
20:71:1qālᵃHe said,
20:71:2ʾāmantum"You believe
20:71:3lahu[to] him

20:71:26waʾabqāand more lasting."
۝٧١
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring."
20:72:1qālūThey said,
20:72:2lan"Never

20:72:10faṭaranācreated us.
20:72:11faᵢqḍⁱSo decree

۝٧٢
They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.
20:73:1ʾinnāIndeed, [we]
20:73:2ʾāmannāwe believe
20:73:3birabbināin our Lord
20:73:4liyaġfirᵃthat He may forgive
20:73:6ḫaṭāyānāour sins

۝٧٣
Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allah is better and more enduring."
20:74:1ʾinnahuIndeed, he
20:74:3yaʾtⁱcomes
20:74:4rabbahu(to) his Lord
20:74:5mujrimaⁿ(as) a criminal
20:74:6faʾinnᵃthen indeed,
20:74:8jahannamᵃ(is) Hell.
20:74:10yamūtᵘhe will die

۝٧٤
Indeed, whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal - indeed, for him is Hell; he will neither die therein nor live.
20:75:1wamanBut whoever
20:75:2yaʾtihicomes to Him
20:75:3muʾminaⁿ(as) a believer
20:75:4qadverily,
20:75:5ʕamilᵃhe has done
20:75:6ₐlṣṣāliḥātⁱthe righteous deeds,
20:75:7faʾulāʾikᵃthen those
20:75:8lahumᵘfor them
20:75:9ₐlddarajātᵘ(will be) the ranks,
20:75:10ₐlʕulā[the] high.
۝٧٥
But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]:

۝٧٦
Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself.
20:77:1walaqadAnd verily,
20:77:2ʾawḥaynāWe inspired
20:77:6ʾasrⁱ"Travel by night
20:77:7biʕibādīwith My slaves

۝٧٧
And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."
20:78:1faʾatbaʕahumThen followed them
20:78:3bijunūdihiwith his forces,
20:78:4faġašiyahumbut covered them
20:78:6ₐlyammⁱthe sea
20:78:8ġašiyahumcovered them

So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them,

20:79:4wamāand (did) not

۝٧٩
And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them].

20:81:9fayaḥillᵃlest should descend

20:81:12wamanAnd whoever

20:81:17hawāhe (has) perished.
۝٨١
[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen."
