43:57:1walammāAnd when
43:57:2ḍuribᵃis presented,
43:57:3ᵢbnᵘ(the) son
43:57:4maryamᵃ(of) Maryam,
43:57:5maθalaⁿ(as) an example
43:57:6ʾiðābehold!
43:57:7qawmukᵃYour people
43:57:8minhᵘabout it
43:57:9yaṣiddūnᵃlaughed aloud.
۝٥٧
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
43:58:1waqālūAnd they said,
43:58:2ʾaʾālihatunā"Are our gods
43:58:3ḫayrᵘⁿbetter
43:58:5huwᵃhe?"
43:58:7ḍarabūhᵘthey present it
43:58:8lakᵃto you
43:58:9ʾillāexcept
43:58:10jadalᵃⁿᵐā(for) argument.
43:58:13qawmᵘⁿ(are) a people
43:58:14ḫaṣimūnᵃargumentative.
۝٥٨
And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.
43:59:3ʾillā(was) except
43:59:4ʕabdᵘⁿa slave,
43:59:5ʾanʕamnāWe bestowed Our favor
43:59:6ʕalayhⁱon him
43:59:7wajaʕalnāhᵘand We made him
43:59:8maθalaⁿan example
43:59:9llibanīfor (the) Children of Israel.
۝٥٩
Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
43:60:2našāʾᵘWe willed,
43:60:3lajaʕalnāsurely We (could have) made
43:60:4minkumamong you
43:60:5mmalāʾikaẗᵃⁿAngels
43:60:7ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
43:60:8yaḫlufūnᵃsucceeding.
۝٦٠
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
43:61:1waʾinnahuAnd indeed, it
43:61:2laʕilmᵘⁿsurely (is) a knowledge
43:61:3llilssāʕaẗⁱof the Hour.
43:61:4falāSo (do) not
43:61:5tamtarunnᵃ(be) doubtful
43:61:6bihāabout it,
43:61:7waᵢttabiʕūnⁱand follow Me.
43:61:9ṣirāṭᵘⁿ(is the) Path
43:61:10mmustaqīmᵘⁿStraight.
۝٦١
And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
43:62:1walāAnd (let) not
43:62:2yaṣuddannakumᵘavert you
43:62:3ₐlššayṭānᵘthe Shaitaan.
43:62:4ʾinnahuIndeed, he
43:62:5lakum(is) for you
43:62:6ʕaduwwᵘⁿan enemy
43:62:7mmubīnᵘⁿclear.
۝٦٢
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
43:63:1walammāAnd when
43:63:4biₐlbayyinātⁱwith clear proofs,
43:63:5qālᵃhe said,
43:63:6qad"Verily,
43:63:7jiʾtukumI have come to you
43:63:8biₐlḥikmaẗⁱwith wisdom
43:63:9waliʾubayyinᵃand that I make clear
43:63:11baʕḍᵃsome
43:63:12ₐllaðī(of) that which
43:63:13taḫtalifūnᵃyou differ
43:63:14fīhⁱin it.
43:63:16ₐllahᵃAllah
43:63:17waʾaṭīʕūnⁱand obey me.
۝٦٣
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me.
43:64:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
43:64:2ₐllahᵃAllah,
43:64:4rabbī(is) my Lord
43:64:5warabbukumand your Lord,
43:64:6faᵤʕbudūhᵘso worship Him.
43:64:8ṣirāṭᵘⁿ(is) a Path
43:64:9mmustaqīmᵘⁿStraight."
۝٦٤
Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
43:65:1faᵢḫtalafᵃBut differed
43:65:2ₐlʾaḥzābᵘthe factions
43:65:3minᵐfrom
43:65:4baynihimamong them,
43:65:5fawaylᵘⁿso woe
43:65:6llillaðīnᵃto those who
43:65:9ʕaðābⁱ(the) punishment
43:65:10yawmⁱⁿ(of the) Day
43:65:11ʾalīmⁱⁿpainful.
۝٦٥
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
43:66:2yanẓurūnᵃthey waiting
43:66:3ʾillāexcept
43:66:4ₐlssāʕaẗᵃ(for) the Hour
43:66:6taʾtiyahumit should come on them
43:66:7baġtaẗᵃⁿsuddenly
43:66:8wahumwhile they
43:66:9(do) not
43:66:10yašʕurūnᵃperceive?
۝٦٦
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
43:67:1ₐlʾaḫillāʾᵘFriends
43:67:2yawmaʾiðⁱⁿthat Day,
43:67:3baʕḍuhumsome of them
43:67:4libaʕḍⁱⁿto others
43:67:5ʕaduwwᵘⁿ(will be) enemies
43:67:6ʾillāexcept
43:67:7ₐlmuttaqīnᵃthe righteous,
۝٦٧
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
43:68:1yāʕibādⁱ"O My slaves!
43:68:3ḫawfᵘⁿfear
43:68:4ʕalaykumᵘon you
43:68:5ₐlyawmᵃthis Day
43:68:8taḥzanūnᵃwill grieve,
۝٦٨
[To whom Allah will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
43:69:1ₐllaðīnᵃThose who
43:69:3biʾāyātināin Our Verses
43:69:5muslimīnᵃsubmissive.
۝٦٩
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
43:70:2ₐljannaẗᵃParadise,
43:70:4waʾazwājukumand your spouses
43:70:5tuḥbarūnᵃdelighted."
۝٧٠
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
43:71:1yuṭāfᵘWill be circulated
43:71:2ʕalayhimfor them
43:71:3biṣiḥāfⁱⁿplates
43:71:5ðahabⁱⁿgold
43:71:6waʾakwābⁱⁿand cups.
43:71:7wafīhāAnd therein
43:71:8(is) what
43:71:9taštahīhⁱdesires
43:71:10ₐlʾanfusᵘthe souls
43:71:11watalaððᵘand delights
43:71:12ₐlʾaʕyunᵘthe eyes,
43:71:15ḫālidūnᵃwill abide forever.
۝٧١
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
43:72:1watilkᵃAnd this
43:72:2ₐljannaẗᵘ(is) the Paradise
43:72:4ʾūriθtumūhāyou are made to inherit
43:72:5bimāfor what
43:72:6kuntumyou used to
۝٧٢
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
43:73:2fīhātherein
43:73:3fākihaẗᵘⁿ(are) fruits
43:73:4kaθīraẗᵘⁿabundant,
43:73:6taʾkulūnᵃyou will eat.
۝٧٣
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
43:74:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
43:74:2ₐlmujrimīnᵃthe criminals
43:74:3(will be) in
43:74:4ʕaðābⁱ(the) punishment
43:74:5jahannamᵃ(of) Hell
43:74:6ḫālidūnᵃabiding forever.
۝٧٤
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
43:75:2yufattarᵘwill it subside
43:75:3ʕanhumfor them,
43:75:4wahumand they
43:75:5fīhⁱin it
43:75:6mublisūnᵃ(will) despair.
۝٧٥
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
43:76:1wamāAnd not
43:76:2ẓalamnāhumWe wronged them
43:76:5humᵘthemselves
43:76:6ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃwrongdoers.
۝٧٦
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
43:77:1wanādawAnd they will call,
43:77:2yāmālikᵘ"O Malik!
43:77:3liyaqḍⁱLet put an end
43:77:5rabbukᵃyour Lord."
43:77:6qālᵃHe (will) say,
43:77:7ʾinnakum"Indeed, you
43:77:8mmākiθūnᵃ(will) remain."
۝٧٧
And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
43:78:1laqadCertainly,
43:78:2jiʾnākumWe have brought you
43:78:3biₐlḥaqqⁱthe truth,
43:78:5ʾakθarakummost of you,
43:78:6lilḥaqqⁱto the truth
43:78:7kārihūnᵃ(are) averse.
۝٧٨
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
43:79:2ʾabramūhave they determined
43:79:3ʾamraⁿan affair?
43:79:4faʾinnāThen indeed, We
43:79:5mubrimūnᵃ(are) determined.
۝٧٩
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
43:80:2yaḥsabūnᵃ(do) they think
43:80:3ʾannāthat We
43:80:4(can) not
43:80:6sirrahumtheir secret(s)
43:80:7wanajwāhumand their private counsel(s)?
43:80:9warusulunāand Our Messengers
43:80:11yaktubūnᵃare recording.
۝٨٠
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.
43:81:4lilrraḥmānⁱthe Most Gracious
43:81:5waladᵘⁿa son.
43:81:7ʾawwalᵘ(would be the) first
43:81:8ₐlʕābidīnᵃ(of) the worshippers."
۝٨١
Say, [O Muhammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
43:82:1subḥānᵃGlory be
43:82:2rabbⁱ(to the) Lord,
43:82:3ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens
43:82:4waₐlʾarḍⁱand the earth,
43:82:5rabbⁱ(the) Lord
43:82:6ₐlʕaršⁱ(of) the Throne,
43:82:7ʕammāabove what
43:82:8yaṣifūnᵃthey ascribe.
۝٨٢
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
43:83:1faðarhumSo leave them
43:83:2yaḫūḍū(to) converse vainly
43:83:6yawmahumᵘtheir Day
43:83:7ₐllaðīwhich
43:83:8yūʕadūnᵃthey are promised
۝٨٣
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
43:84:1wahuwᵃAnd He
43:84:2ₐllaðī(is) the One Who
43:84:3(is) in
43:84:4ₐlssamāʾⁱthe heaven -
43:84:5ʾilāhᵘⁿGod,
43:84:7ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth -
43:84:8ʾilāhᵘⁿGod.
43:84:9wahuwᵃAnd He
43:84:10ₐlḥakīmᵘ(is) the All-Wise,
43:84:11ₐlʕalīmᵘthe All-Knower.
۝٨٤
And it is Allah who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
43:85:1watabārakᵃAnd blessed (is)
43:85:2ₐllaðīthe One Who -
43:85:4mulkᵘ(belongs the) dominion
43:85:5ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens
43:85:6waₐlʾarḍⁱand the earth
43:85:7wamāand whatever
43:85:8baynahumā(is) between both of them
43:85:9waʕindahuand with Him
43:85:10ʕilmᵘ(is the) knowledge
43:85:11ₐlssāʕaẗⁱ(of) the Hour,
43:85:12waʾilayhⁱand to Him
43:85:13turjaʕūnᵃyou will be returned.
۝٨٥
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
43:86:1walāAnd not
43:86:2yamlikᵘhave power
43:86:3ₐllaðīnᵃthose whom
43:86:4yadʕūnᵃthey invoke
43:86:5minbesides Him
43:86:7ₐlššafāʕaẗᵃ(for) the intercession;
43:86:8ʾillāexcept
43:86:10šahidᵃtestifies
43:86:11biₐlḥaqqⁱto the truth,
۝٨٦
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
43:87:1walaʾinAnd if
43:87:2saʾaltahumyou ask them
43:87:4ḫalaqahumcreated them,
43:87:5layaqūlunnᵃthey will certainly say,
43:87:6ₐllahᵘ"Allah."
43:87:7faʾannāThen how
43:87:8yuʾfakūnᵃare they deluded?
۝٨٧
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allah." So how are they deluded?
43:88:1waqīlihiAnd his saying,
43:88:2yārabbⁱ"O my Lord!
43:88:3ʾinnᵃIndeed,
43:88:5qawmᵘⁿ(are) a people
43:88:6llā(who do) not
43:88:7yuʾminūnᵃbelieve."
۝٨٨
And [Allah acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
43:89:1faᵢṣfaḥSo turn away
43:89:2ʕanhumfrom them
43:89:3waquland say,
43:89:4salāmᵘⁿ"Peace."
43:89:5fasawfᵃBut soon
43:89:6yaʕlamūnᵃthey will know.
۝٨٩
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know.
44
الدخان
The Smoke
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
44:1:1ḥāʾ mīmHa Meem.
۝١
Ha, Meem.
44:2:1waₐlkitābⁱBy the Book
44:2:2ₐlmubīnⁱthe clear,
۝٢
By the clear Book,
44:3:1ʾinnāIndeed, We
44:3:2ʾanzalnāhᵘrevealed it
44:3:4laylaẗⁱⁿa Night
44:3:5mmubārakaẗⁱⁿBlessed.
44:3:6ʾinnāIndeed, We
44:3:7kunnā[We] are
44:3:8munðirīnᵃ(ever) warning.
۝٣
Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].
44:4:1fīhāTherein
44:4:2yufraqᵘis made distinct
44:4:3kullᵘevery
44:4:4ʾamrⁱⁿaffair,
44:4:5ḥakīmⁱⁿwise,
۝٤
On that night is made distinct every precise matter -
44:5:1ʾamraⁿA command
44:5:4ʾinnāIndeed, We
44:5:5kunnā[We] are
44:5:6mursilīnᵃ(ever) sending,
۝٥
[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]
44:6:1raḥmaẗᵃⁿAs Mercy
44:6:3rrabbikᵃyour Lord.
44:6:4ʾinnahuIndeed, He
44:6:5huwᵃ[He]
44:6:6ₐlssamīʕᵘ(is) the All-Hearer,
44:6:7ₐlʕalīmᵘthe All-Knower.
۝٦
As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
44:7:1rabbⁱLord
44:7:2ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens
44:7:3waₐlʾarḍⁱand the earth
44:7:4wamāand whatever
44:7:5baynahumā(is) between both of them,
44:7:7kuntumyou are
44:7:8mmūqinīnᵃcertain.
۝٧
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain.
44:8:1(There is) no
44:8:3ʾillāexcept
44:8:4huwᵃHim;
44:8:5yuḥāiHe gives life
44:8:6wayumītᵘand causes death,
44:8:7rabbukumyour Lord
44:8:8warabbᵘand (the) Lord
44:8:9ʾābāʾikumᵘ(of) your fathers
44:8:10ₐlʾawwalīnᵃthe former.
۝٨
There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.
44:9:3(are) in
44:9:4šakkⁱⁿdoubt -
44:9:5yalʕabūnᵃplaying.
۝٩
But they are in doubt, amusing themselves.
44:10:1faᵢrtaqibThen watch
44:10:2yawmᵃ(for the) Day
44:10:3taʾtī(when) will bring
44:10:4ₐlssamāʾᵘthe sky
44:10:5biduḫānⁱⁿsmoke
44:10:6mmubīnⁱⁿvisible,
۝١٠
Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke.
44:11:1yaġšāEnveloping
44:11:2ₐlnnāsᵃthe people.
44:11:4ʕaðābᵘⁿ(will be) a punishment
44:11:5ʾalīmᵘⁿpainful.
۝١١
Covering the people; this is a painful torment.
44:12:1rrabbanā"Our Lord!
44:12:2ᵢkšifRemove
44:12:3ʕannāfrom us
44:12:4ₐlʕaðābᵃthe punishment;
44:12:5ʾinnāindeed, we
44:12:6muʾminūnᵃ(are) believers."
۝١٢
[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers."
44:13:1ʾannāHow can
44:13:2lahumᵘ(there be) for them
44:13:3ₐlððikrāthe reminder,
44:13:4waqadwhen verily,
44:13:5jāʾahumhad come to them
44:13:6rasūlᵘⁿa Messenger
44:13:7mmubīnᵘⁿclear.
۝١٣
How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.
44:14:1θummᵃThen
44:14:2tawallawthey turned away
44:14:3ʕanhᵘfrom him
44:14:5muʕallamᵘⁿ"One taught,
44:14:6mmajnūnᵘⁿa mad man."
۝١٤
Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman."
44:15:1ʾinnāIndeed, We
44:15:2kāšifū(will) remove
44:15:3ₐlʕaðābⁱthe punishment
44:15:4qalīlaⁿa little,
44:15:5ʾinnakumindeed, you
44:15:6ʕāʾidūnᵃ(will) return.
۝١٥
Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief].
44:16:1yawmᵃ(The) Day
44:16:2nabṭišᵘWe will seize
44:16:3ₐlbaṭšaẗᵃ(with) the seizure
44:16:4ₐlkubrāthe greatest,
44:16:5ʾinnāindeed, We
44:16:6muntaqimūnᵃ(will) take retribution.
۝١٦
The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution.
