الشرح
The Relief
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
94:1:1ʾalamHave not
94:1:2našraḥWe expanded
94:1:3lakᵃfor you
94:1:4ṣadrakᵃyour breast?
۝١
Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?
94:2:1wawaḍaʕnāAnd We removed
94:2:2ʕankᵃfrom you
94:2:3wizrakᵃyour burden
۝٢
And We removed from you your burden
94:3:1ₐllaðīWhich
94:3:2ʾanqaḍᵃweighed upon
94:3:3ẓahrakᵃyour back,
۝٣
Which had weighed upon your back
94:4:1warafaʕnāAnd We raised high
94:4:2lakᵃfor you
94:4:3ðikrakᵃyour reputation
۝٤
And raised high for you your repute.
94:5:1faʾinnᵃSo indeed,
94:5:2maʕᵃwith
94:5:3ₐlʕusrⁱthe hardship
94:5:4yusraⁿ(is) ease.
۝٥
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
94:6:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
94:6:2maʕᵃwith
94:6:3ₐlʕusrⁱthe hardship
94:6:4yusraⁿ(is) ease.
۝٦
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
94:7:1faʾiðāSo when
94:7:2faraġtᵃyou have finished
94:7:3faᵢnṣabthen labor hard.
۝٧
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
94:8:2rabbikᵃyour Lord
94:8:3faᵢrġabturn your attention.
۝٨
And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
95
التين
The Fig
بِّسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
95:1:1waₐlttīnⁱBy the fig,
95:1:2waₐlzzaytūnⁱand the olive,
۝١
By the fig and the olive
95:2:1waṭūrⁱAnd (the) Mount
95:2:2sīnīnᵃSinai,
۝٢
And [by] Mount Sinai
95:3:1wahāðāAnd this
95:3:2ₐlbaladⁱ[the] city,
95:3:3ₐlʾamīnⁱ[the] secure,
۝٣
And [by] this secure city [Makkah],
95:4:1laqadIndeed,
95:4:2ḫalaqnāWe created
95:4:5ʾaḥsanⁱ(the) best
95:4:6taqwīmⁱⁿmould.
۝٤
We have certainly created man in the best of stature;
95:5:1θummᵃThen
95:5:2radadnāhᵘWe returned him
95:5:3ʾasfalᵃ(to the) lowest
95:5:4sāfilīnᵃ(of the) low,
۝٥
Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
95:6:1ʾillāExcept
95:6:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
95:6:5ₐlṣṣāliḥātⁱrighteous deeds,
95:6:6falahumthen for them
95:6:7ʾajrᵘⁿ(is a) reward
95:6:8ġayrᵘnever
95:6:9mamnūnⁱⁿending.
۝٦
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
95:7:1famāThen what
95:7:2yukaððibukᵃcauses you to deny
95:7:3baʕdᵘafter (this)
95:7:4biₐlddīnⁱthe judgment?
۝٧
So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?
95:8:1ʾalaysᵃIs not
95:8:2ₐllahᵘAllah
95:8:3biʾaḥkamⁱ(the) Most Just
95:8:4ₐlḥākimīnᵃ(of) the Judges?
۝٨
Is not Allah the most just of judges?
96
العلق
The Clot
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
96:1:2biᵢsmⁱin (the) name
96:1:3rabbikᵃ(of) your Lord
96:1:4ₐllaðīthe One Who
96:1:5ḫalaqᵃcreated -
۝١
Recite in the name of your Lord who created -
96:2:1ḫalaqᵃHe created
96:2:4ʕalaqⁱⁿa clinging substance.
۝٢
Created man from a clinging substance.
96:3:2warabbukᵃand your Lord
96:3:3ₐlʾakramᵘ(is) the Most Generous,
۝٣
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -
96:4:1ₐllaðīThe One Who
96:4:2ʕallamᵃtaught
96:4:3biₐlqalamⁱby the pen,
۝٤
Who taught by the pen -
96:5:1ʕallamᵃTaught
96:5:5yaʕlamhe knew.
۝٥
Taught man that which he knew not.
96:6:2ʾinnᵃIndeed,
96:6:4layaṭġāsurely transgresses,
۝٦
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
96:7:1ʾanThat
96:7:2rraʾāhᵘhe sees himself
96:7:3ᵢstaġnāself-sufficient.
۝٧
Because he sees himself self-sufficient.
96:8:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
96:8:3rabbikᵃyour Lord
96:8:4ₐlrrujʕā(is) the return.
۝٨
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
96:9:1ʾaraʾaytᵃHave you seen
96:9:2ₐllaðīthe one who
۝٩
Have you seen the one who forbids
96:10:1ʕabdaⁿA slave
96:10:3ṣallāhe prays?
۝١٠
A servant when he prays?
96:11:1ʾaraʾaytᵃHave you seen
96:11:3kānᵃhe is
96:11:5ₐlhudā[the] guidance,
۝١١
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
96:12:2ʾamarᵃhe enjoins
96:12:3biₐlttaqwā[of the] righteousness?
۝١٢
Or enjoins righteousness?
96:13:1ʾaraʾaytᵃHave you seen
96:13:3kaððabᵃhe denies
96:13:4watawallāand turns away?
۝١٣
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
96:14:1ʾalamDoes not
96:14:2yaʕlamhe know
96:14:3biʾannᵃthat
96:14:4ₐllahᵃAllah
۝١٤
Does he not know that Allah sees?
96:15:4yantahⁱhe desists,
96:15:5lanasfaʕᵃⁿᵐāsurely We will drag him
96:15:6biₐlnnāṣiyaẗⁱby the forelock,
۝١٥
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock -
96:16:1nāṣiyaẗⁱⁿA forelock
96:16:2kāðibaẗⁱⁿlying,
96:16:3ḫāṭiʾaẗⁱⁿsinful.
۝١٦
A lying, sinning forelock.
96:17:1falyadʕᵘThen let him call
96:17:2nādiyahuhis associates,
۝١٧
Then let him call his associates;
96:18:1sanadʕᵘWe will call
96:18:2ₐlzzabāniyaẗᵃthe Angels of Hell.
۝١٨
We will call the angels of Hell.
96:19:2(Do) not
96:19:3tuṭiʕhᵘobey him.
96:19:4waᵤsjudBut prostrate
96:19:5waᵢqtariband draw near (to Allah).
۝١٩
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
97
القدر
The Power
بِّسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
97:1:1ʾinnāIndeed, We
97:1:2ʾanzalnāhᵘrevealed it
97:1:4laylaẗⁱ(the) Night
97:1:5ₐlqadrⁱ(of) Power.
۝١
Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
97:2:1wamāAnd what
97:2:2ʾadrākᵃcan make you know
97:2:4laylaẗᵘ(the) Night
97:2:5ₐlqadrⁱ(of) Power (is)?
۝٢
And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
97:3:1laylaẗᵘ(The) Night
97:3:2ₐlqadrⁱ(of) Power
97:3:3ḫayrᵘⁿ(is) better
97:3:5ʾalfⁱa thousand
97:3:6šahrⁱⁿmonth(s).
۝٣
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
97:4:1tanazzalᵘDescend
97:4:2ₐlmalāʾikaẗᵘthe Angels
97:4:3waₐlrrūḥᵘand the Spirit
97:4:4fīhātherein,
97:4:5biʾiðnⁱby (the) permission
97:4:6rabbihim(of) their Lord,
97:4:8kullⁱevery
97:4:9ʾamrⁱⁿaffair,
۝٤
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
97:5:1salāmᵘⁿPeace
97:5:2hīᵃit (is)
97:5:4maṭlaʕⁱ(the) emergence
97:5:5ₐlfajrⁱ(of) the dawn.
۝٥
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
98
البينة
The Clear Proof
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
98:1:2yakunⁱwere
98:1:3ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
98:1:4kafarūdisbelieved
98:1:6ʾahlⁱ(the) People
98:1:7ₐlkitābⁱof the Book
98:1:8waₐlmušrikīnᵃand the polytheists,
98:1:9munfakkīnᵃto be abandoned
98:1:11taʾtiyahumᵘ(there) comes to them
98:1:12ₐlbayyinaẗᵘthe clear evidence,
۝١
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -
98:2:1rasūlᵘⁿA Messenger
98:2:2mminᵃfrom
98:2:3ₐllahⁱAllah,
98:2:5ṣuḥufaⁿpages
98:2:6mmuṭahharaẗᵃⁿpurified,
۝٢
A Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures
98:3:1fīhāWherein
98:3:2kutubᵘⁿ(are) writings
98:3:3qayyimaẗᵘⁿcorrect.
۝٣
Within which are correct writings.
98:4:1wamāAnd not
98:4:2tafarraqᵃbecame divided
98:4:3ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
98:4:4ʾūtūwere given
98:4:5ₐlkitābᵃthe Book,
98:4:6ʾillāuntil
98:4:7minᵐfrom
98:4:8baʕdⁱafter
98:4:10jāʾathumᵘcame (to) them
98:4:11ₐlbayyinaẗᵘ(of) the clear evidence.
۝٤
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
98:5:1wamāAnd not
98:5:2ʾumirūthey were commanded
98:5:3ʾillāexcept
98:5:5ₐllahᵃAllah
98:5:6muḫliṣīnᵃ(being) sincere
98:5:7lahᵘto Him
98:5:8ₐlddīnᵃ(in) the religion,
98:5:9ḥunafāʾᵃupright,
98:5:10wayuqīmūand to establish
98:5:11ₐlṣṣalawẗᵃthe prayer,
98:5:12wayuʾtūand to give
98:5:13ₐlzzakawẗᵃthe zakah
98:5:14waðālikᵃAnd that
98:5:15dīnᵘ(is the) religion
98:5:16ₐlqayyimaẗⁱthe correct.
۝٥
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.
98:6:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
98:6:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
98:6:3kafarūdisbelieve
98:6:5ʾahlⁱ(the) People
98:6:6ₐlkitābⁱ(of) the Book
98:6:7waₐlmušrikīnᵃand the polytheists
98:6:8(will be) in
98:6:9nārⁱ(the) Fire
98:6:10jahannamᵃ(of) Hell
98:6:11ḫālidīnᵃabiding eternally
98:6:12fīhātherein.
98:6:15šarrᵘ(are the) worst
98:6:16ₐlbariyyaẗⁱ(of) the creatures.
۝٦
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
98:7:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
98:7:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
98:7:5ₐlṣṣāliḥātⁱrighteous deeds,
98:7:6ʾulāʾikᵃthose -
98:7:8ḫayrᵘ(are the) best
98:7:9ₐlbariyyaẗⁱ(of) the creatures.
۝٧
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
98:8:1jazāʾuhumTheir reward
98:8:2ʕindᵃ(is) with
98:8:3rabbihimtheir Lord -
98:8:4jannātᵘGardens
98:8:5ʕadnⁱⁿ(of) Eternity,
98:8:8taḥtihāunderneath them
98:8:9ₐlʾanhārᵘthe rivers,
98:8:10ḫālidīnᵃwill abide
98:8:12ʾabadaⁿforever.
98:8:13rraḍīᵃ(will be) pleased
98:8:14ₐllahᵘAllah
98:8:15ʕanhumwith them
98:8:16waraḍūand they (will be) pleased
98:8:17ʕanhᵘwith Him.
98:8:18ðālikᵃThat
98:8:19liman(is) for whoever
98:8:20ḫašīᵃfeared
98:8:21rabbahuhis Lord.
۝٨
Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
99
الزلزلة
The Earthquake
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
99:1:1ʾiðāWhen
99:1:2zulzilatⁱis shaken
99:1:3ₐlʾarḍᵘthe earth
99:1:4zilzālahā(with) its earthquake,
۝١
When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake
99:2:1waʾaḫrajatⁱAnd brings forth
99:2:2ₐlʾarḍᵘthe earth
99:2:3ʾaθqālahāits burdens,
۝٢
And the earth discharges its burdens
99:3:1waqālᵃAnd says
99:3:2ₐlʾinsānᵘman,
99:3:3"What
99:3:4lahā(is) with it?"
۝٣
And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" -
99:4:1yawmaʾiðⁱⁿThat Day,
99:4:2tuḥaddiθᵘit will report
99:4:3ʾaḫbārahāits news,
۝٤
That Day, it will report its news
99:5:1biʾannᵃBecause
99:5:2rabbakᵃyour Lord
99:5:3ʾawḥāinspired
99:5:4lahā[to] it.
۝٥
Because your Lord has commanded it.
99:6:1yawmaʾiðⁱⁿThat Day
99:6:2yaṣdurᵘwill proceed
99:6:3ₐlnnāsᵘthe mankind
99:6:4ʾaštātaⁿ(in) scattered groups
99:6:5lliyurawto be shown
99:6:6ʾaʕmālahumtheir deeds.
۝٦
That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.
99:7:1famanSo whoever
99:7:3miθqālᵃ(equal to the) weight
99:7:4ðarraẗⁱⁿ(of) an atom
99:7:5ḫayraⁿgood,
99:7:6yarahuwill see it,
۝٧
So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,
99:8:1wamanAnd whoever
99:8:3miθqālᵃ(equal to the) weight
99:8:4ðarraẗⁱⁿ(of) an atom
99:8:5šarraⁿevil,
99:8:6yarahuwill see it.
۝٨
And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
100
العاديات
The Courser
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
100:1:1waₐlʕādiyātⁱBy the racers
100:1:2ḍabḥaⁿpanting,
۝١
By the racers, panting,
100:2:1faₐlmūriyātⁱAnd the producers of sparks,
100:2:2qadḥaⁿstriking
۝٢
And the producers of sparks [when] striking
100:3:1faₐlmuġīrātⁱAnd the chargers
100:3:2ṣubḥaⁿ(at) dawn,
۝٣
And the chargers at dawn,
100:4:1faʾaθarnᵃThen raise
100:4:3naqʕaⁿdust,
۝٤
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
100:5:1fawasaṭnᵃThen penetrate (in the) center
100:5:3jamʕaⁿcollectively
۝٥
Arriving thereby in the center collectively,
100:6:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
100:6:2ₐlʾinsānᵃmankind,
100:6:3lirabbihito his Lord,
100:6:4lakanūdᵘⁿ(is) surely ungrateful.
۝٦
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
100:7:1waʾinnahuAnd indeed, he
100:7:3ðālikᵃthat
100:7:4lašahīdᵘⁿsurely (is) a witness,
۝٧
And indeed, he is to that a witness.
100:8:1waʾinnahuAnd indeed he
100:8:2liḥubbⁱin (the) love
100:8:3ₐlḫayrⁱ(of) wealth
100:8:4lašadīdᵘⁿ(is) surely intense.
۝٨
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
