18:51:2ʾašhadttuhumI made them witness
18:51:3ḫalqᵃthe creation
18:51:4ₐlssamāwātⁱ(of) the heavens
18:51:5waₐlʾarḍⁱand the earth
18:51:6walāand not
18:51:7ḫalqᵃthe creation
18:51:8ʾanfusihim(of) themselves
18:51:9wamāand not
18:51:11muttaḫiðᵃthe One to take
18:51:12ₐlmuḍillīnᵃthe misleaders
18:51:13ʕaḍudaⁿ(as) helper(s).
۝٥١
I did not make them witness to the creation of the heavens and the earth or to the creation of themselves, and I would not have taken the misguiders as assistants.
18:52:1wayawmᵃAnd the Day
18:52:2yaqūlᵘHe will say,
18:52:4šurakāʾīᵃMy partners,
18:52:5ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
18:52:6zaʕamtumyou claimed,"
18:52:7fadaʕawhumthen they will call them
18:52:9yastajībūthey will respond
18:52:11wajaʕalnāAnd We will make
18:52:12baynahumbetween them
18:52:13mmawbiqaⁿa barrier.
۝٥٢
And [warn of] the Day when He will say, "Call 'My partners' whom you claimed," and they will invoke them, but they will not respond to them. And We will put between them [a valley of] destruction.
18:53:1waraʾāAnd will see
18:53:2ₐlmujrimūnᵃthe criminals
18:53:3ₐlnnārᵃthe Fire,
18:53:4faẓannūand they (will be) certain
18:53:5ʾannahumthat they
18:53:6mmuwāqiʕūhāare to fall in it.
18:53:8yajidūthey will find
18:53:9ʕanhāfrom it
18:53:10maṣrifaⁿa way of escape.
۝٥٣
And the criminals will see the Fire and will be certain that they are to fall therein. And they will not find from it a way elsewhere.
18:54:1walaqadAnd certainly,
18:54:2ṣarrafnāWe have explained
18:54:5ₐlqurʾānⁱthe Quran
18:54:6lilnnāsⁱfor mankind
18:54:8kullⁱevery
18:54:9maθalⁱⁿexample.
18:54:10wakānᵃBut is
18:54:11ₐlʾinsānᵘthe man
18:54:12ʾakθarᵃ(in) most
18:54:13šayʾⁱⁿthings
18:54:14jadalaⁿquarrelsome.
۝٥٤
And We have certainly diversified in this Qur'an for the people from every [kind of] example; but man has ever been, most of anything, [prone to] dispute.
18:55:1wamāAnd nothing
18:55:2manaʕᵃprevents
18:55:5yuʾminūthey believe
18:55:7jāʾahumᵘhas come to them
18:55:8ₐlhudāthe guidance
18:55:9wayastaġfirūand they ask forgiveness
18:55:10rabbahum(of) their Lord,
18:55:13taʾtiyahumcomes to them
18:55:14sunnaẗᵘ(the) way
18:55:15ₐlʾawwalīnᵃ(of) the former (people)
18:55:17yaʾtiyahumᵘcomes to them
18:55:18ₐlʕaðābᵘthe punishment
18:55:19qubulaⁿbefore (them)?
۝٥٥
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
18:56:1wamāAnd not
18:56:2nursilᵘWe send
18:56:3ₐlmursalīnᵃthe Messengers
18:56:4ʾillāexcept
18:56:5mubašširīnᵃ(as) bearers of glad tidings
18:56:6wamunðirīnᵃand (as) warners.
18:56:7wayujādilᵘAnd dispute
18:56:8ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
18:56:9kafarūdisbelieve
18:56:10biₐlbāṭilⁱwith falsehood,
18:56:11liyudḥiḍūto refute
18:56:12bihⁱthereby
18:56:13ₐlḥaqqᵃthe truth.
18:56:14waᵢttaḫaðūAnd they take
18:56:15ʾāyātīMy Verses
18:56:17ʾunðirūthey are warned
18:56:18huzuwaⁿ(in) ridicule.
۝٥٦
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.
18:57:2ʾaẓlamᵘ(is) more wrong
18:57:3mimmanthan (he) who
18:57:4ðukkirᵃis reminded
18:57:5biʾāyātⁱof the Verses
18:57:6rabbihi(of) his Lord,
18:57:7faʾaʕraḍᵃbut turns away
18:57:8ʕanhāfrom them,
18:57:9wanasīᵃand forgets
18:57:11qaddamathave sent forth
18:57:12yadāhᵘhis hands?
18:57:13ʾinnāIndeed, We
18:57:14jaʕalnā[We] have placed
18:57:16qulūbihimtheir hearts
18:57:17ʾakinnaẗᵃⁿcoverings,
18:57:19yafqahūhᵘthey understand it
18:57:21ʾāðānihimtheir ears
18:57:22waqraⁿ(is) deafness.
18:57:23waʾinAnd if
18:57:24tadʕuhumyou call them
18:57:26ₐlhudāthe guidance,
18:57:27falanthen never
18:57:28yahtadūthey will be guided
18:57:29ʾiðaⁿthen
18:57:30ʾabadaⁿever.
۝٥٧
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance - they will never be guided, then - ever.
18:58:1warabbukᵃAnd your Lord
18:58:2ₐlġafūrᵘ(is) the Most Forgiving,
18:58:3ðūOwner
18:58:4ₐlrraḥmaẗⁱ(of) the Mercy.
18:58:6yuʾāḫiðuhumHe were to seize them
18:58:7bimāfor what
18:58:8kasabūthey have earned,
18:58:9laʕajjalᵃsurely, He (would) have hastened
18:58:10lahumᵘfor them
18:58:11ₐlʕaðābᵃthe punishment.
18:58:13llahumfor them
18:58:14mmawʕidᵘⁿ(is) an appointment,
18:58:16yajidūthey will find
18:58:17minother than it
18:58:19mawʾilaⁿan escape.
۝٥٨
And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.
18:59:1watilkᵃAnd these
18:59:2ₐlqurā[the] towns,
18:59:3ʾahlaknāhumWe destroyed them
18:59:5ẓalamūthey wronged,
18:59:6wajaʕalnāand We made
18:59:7limahlikihimfor their destruction
18:59:8mmawʕidaⁿan appointed time.
۝٥٩
And those cities - We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.
18:60:1waʾiðAnd when
18:60:4lifatāhᵘto his boy,
18:60:6ʾabraḥᵘI will cease
18:60:8ʾabluġᵃI reach
18:60:9majmaʕᵃthe junction
18:60:10ₐlbaḥraynⁱ(of) the two seas
18:60:12ʾamḍīᵃI continue
18:60:13ḥuqubaⁿ(for) a long period."
۝٦٠
And [mention] when Moses said to his servant, "I will not cease [traveling] until I reach the junction of the two seas or continue for a long period."
18:61:1falammāBut when
18:61:2balaġāthey reached
18:61:3majmaʕᵃthe junction
18:61:4baynihimābetween them,
18:61:5nasiyāthey forgot
18:61:6ḥūtahumātheir fish,
18:61:7faᵢttaḫaðᵃand it took
18:61:10ₐlbaḥrⁱthe sea,
18:61:11sarabaⁿslipping away.
۝٦١
But when they reached the junction between them, they forgot their fish, and it took its course into the sea, slipping away.
18:62:1falammāThen when
18:62:2jāwazāthey had passed beyond
18:62:3qālᵃhe said
18:62:4lifatāhᵘto his boy,
18:62:5ʾātinā"Bring us
18:62:6ġadāʾanāour morning meal.
18:62:7laqadCertainly
18:62:8laqīnāwe have suffered
18:62:10safarināour journey
18:62:12naṣabaⁿfatigue."
۝٦٢
So when they had passed beyond it, [Moses] said to his boy, "Bring us our morning meal. We have certainly suffered in this, our journey, [much] fatigue."
18:63:1qālᵃHe said,
18:63:2ʾaraʾaytᵃ"Did you see,
18:63:4ʾawaynāwe retired
18:63:6ₐlṣṣaḫraẗⁱthe rock?
18:63:7faʾinnīThen indeed, I
18:63:8nasītᵘ[I] forgot
18:63:9ₐlḥūtᵃthe fish.
18:63:11ʾansānīhᵘmade me forget it
18:63:13ₐlššayṭānᵘthe Shaitaan
18:63:15ʾaðkurahuI mention it.
18:63:16waᵢttaḫaðᵃAnd it took
18:63:19ₐlbaḥrⁱthe sea
18:63:20ʕajabaⁿamazingly."
۝٦٣
He said, "Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot [there] the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan - that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly".
18:64:1qālᵃHe said,
18:64:2ðālikᵃ"That
18:64:3(is) what
18:64:4kunnāwe were
18:64:5nabġⁱseeking."
18:64:6faᵢrtaddāSo they returned
18:64:8ʾāθārihimātheir footprints,
18:64:9qaṣaṣaⁿretracing.
۝٦٤
[Moses] said, "That is what we were seeking." So they returned, following their footprints.
18:65:1fawajadāThen they found
18:65:2ʕabdaⁿa servant
18:65:4ʕibādināOur servants,
18:65:5ʾātaynāhᵘwhom We had given
18:65:6raḥmaẗᵃⁿmercy
18:65:9waʕallamnāhᵘand We had taught him
18:65:12ʕilmaⁿa knowledge.
۝٦٥
And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.
18:66:5ʾattabiʕukᵃI follow you
18:66:8tuʕallimanⁱyou teach me
18:66:9mimmāof what
18:66:10ʕullimtᵃyou have been taught
18:66:11rušdaⁿ(of) right guidance?"
۝٦٦
Moses said to him, "May I follow you on [the condition] that you teach me from what you have been taught of sound judgement?"
18:67:1qālᵃHe said,
18:67:2ʾinnakᵃ"Indeed, you
18:67:4tastaṭīʕᵃwill be able,
18:67:5maʕīᵃwith me,
18:67:6ṣabraⁿ(to have) patience.
۝٦٧
He said, "Indeed, with me you will never be able to have patience.
18:68:1wakayfᵃAnd how can
18:68:2taṣbirᵘyou have patience
18:68:6tuḥiṭyou encompass
18:68:8ḫubraⁿany knowledge."
۝٦٨
And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge?"
18:69:1qālᵃHe said,
18:69:2satajidunī"You will find me,
18:69:4šāʾᵃAllah wills,
18:69:6ṣābiraⁿpatient,
18:69:8ʾaʕṣīI will disobey
18:69:9lakᵃyour
18:69:10ʾamraⁿorder."
۝٦٩
[Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in [any] order."
18:70:1qālᵃHe said,
18:70:2faʾinⁱ"Then if
18:70:3ᵢttabaʕtanīyou follow me,
18:70:4falā(do) not
18:70:6ʕanabout
18:70:7šayʾⁱⁿanything
18:70:9ʾuḥdiθᵃI present
18:70:10lakᵃto you
18:70:12ðikraⁿa mention."
۝٧٠
He said, "Then if you follow me, do not ask me about anything until I make to you about it mention."
18:71:1faᵢnṭalaqāSo they both set out
18:71:4rakibāthey had embarked
18:71:6ₐlssafīnaẗⁱthe ship
18:71:7ḫaraqahāhe made a hole in it.
18:71:8qālᵃHe said,
18:71:9ʾaḫaraqtahā"Have you made a hole in it,
18:71:10lituġriqᵃto drown
18:71:11ʾahlahāits people?
18:71:12laqadCertainly,
18:71:13jiʾtᵃyou have done
18:71:14šayʾaⁿa thing
18:71:15ʾimraⁿgrave."
۝٧١
So they set out, until when they had embarked on the ship, al-Khidh r tore it open. [Moses] said, "Have you torn it open to drown its people? You have certainly done a grave thing."
18:72:1qālᵃHe said,
18:72:2ʾalam"Did not
18:72:4ʾinnakᵃindeed, you
18:72:6tastaṭīʕᵃwill be able
18:72:7maʕīᵃwith me
18:72:8ṣabraⁿ(to have) patience?"
۝٧٢
[Al-Khidh r] said, "Did I not say that with me you would never be able to have patience?"
18:73:1qālᵃHe said,
18:73:2"(Do) not,
18:73:3tuʾāḫiðnīblame me
18:73:4bimāfor what
18:73:5nasītᵘI forgot
18:73:6walāand (do) not
18:73:7turhiqnībe hard (upon) me
18:73:9ʾamrīmy affair
18:73:10ʕusraⁿ(raising) difficulty."
۝٧٣
[Moses] said, "Do not blame me for what I forgot and do not cover me in my matter with difficulty."
18:74:1faᵢnṭalaqāThen they both set out
18:74:4laqiyāthey met
18:74:5ġulāmaⁿa boy,
18:74:6faqatalahuthen he killed him.
18:74:7qālᵃHe said,
18:74:8ʾaqataltᵃ"Have you killed
18:74:9nafsaⁿa soul,
18:74:10zakiyyaẗᵃⁿᵐpure,
18:74:11biġayrⁱfor other than
18:74:12nafsⁱⁿa soul?
18:74:13llaqadCertainly,
18:74:14jiʾtᵃyou have done
18:74:15šayʾaⁿa thing
۝٧٤
So they set out, until when they met a boy, al-Khidh r killed him. [Moses] said, "Have you killed a pure soul for other than [having killed] a soul? You have certainly done a deplorable thing."
